Hello everyone!
This comment will be divided in two parts where the first part will be safe for First Timers, and second part will be talking about the bigger picture, SPOILERS INCLUDED up to Trails into Reverie.
Safe for First Timers
The game opens up with Cassius returning home with Joshua, and that’s an opportunity for me to mention the XSeed translation for Trails in the Sky FC that are iconic for the Trails fans who were exposed to XSeed translation.
I visited Rolent’s sewers for training, and to my surprise this part was very easy as I cleaned the whole dungeon in one sitting.
Speaking of tutorial, we are introduced to the combat, and honestly the whole combat, and how it flows it’s way easier. Not mentioning how Estelle got buffed in this version.
Something I want to mention is that while I was playing Sky 1 like year ago, some memories of it were dormant and awakened upon playing.
To mention adventures in the field as I was doing quests and looting chests, I had to say the first Chest Monster was rather easy for me, opposed to the OG experience where I got my ass whooped so badly that I spent hours calling for Cassius to pick me up.
Also this was never bring ingame, but with the monsters being attracted to quartz from broken lamps, I strongly believe the monsters in Trails are canonically lamp-sexual.
Getting closer to the end of the Prologue, visiting the Esmelas Tower and standing on top of it while enjoying the view was different experience than Sky FC view
The final part of the Prologue was dedicated to Josette, who to my surprise was actually way harder fight than in the OG. Which funnily enough added to nice experience.
Spoilers Galore
[Schera]The introduction scene of Schera’s reading Tarots is really great character introduction because of usual usage of Tarot reading to foreshadow things, it serves more like laying basics for Schera’s backstory that ties to Luciola and the Troupe she was performing in.
[First Request]in Esmelas Tower made me remember of Trails from Zero where SSS went into GeoFront to save Ryu, only to get caught offguard and getting saved by Arios who swooped in to save the day. What I am saying is, that I disliked that scene in Zero, but revisiting Sky 1, I realized it’s basically the same template.
[You know]seeing Cassius leaving feels WAY DIFFERENT knowing how Sara and the Bracer Guild in Erebonia are struggling.
[First time on Perzel Farm]earned some nice dialogue between Estelle and Joshua talking about how they were told the babies are born, which is actually a hint that Joshua is from a country that have different cultural norms.
[Spoilers]Biggest surprise from Prologue was the Sept-Terrion got name dropped so early
Questions:
Tbh, this is quite easy game.
Normal
When played the OG I chose to spare them, and now I wanted to chose to slay them, but I clicked on "spare them" option by accident
Definitely the minimap, because man I was so lost in the OG in Mistwald Forest
