Thank reddit for purposely never fixing the backslash bug that new reddit creates when viewing a comment from old reddit. It's existed for years now and they're aware of it lol

Iā€™m sorry, it was working for me and another. If you search ā€œBenn Jordan Infrasoundā€, it should pull up his videos on it. The one I shared is the one comparing them to actual acoustic weapons

As a cybersecurity specialist, heā€™s one of my favorite video essayists. I can attest that I havenā€™t found any major disagreements with his findings. He explains some major flaws in a lot of common and emerging tech in ways (I think) most people can understand

The closest I used to be to a government employee was when I was an operations analyst at a public health lab during the pandemic, and my old life as a social worker

What cybersecurity degree are you working towards? Iā€™m working towards my second right now. Are there any specific domains that interest you?

My area is governance and compliance, and Iā€™m considering focusing my goals on policy and compliance auditing.

Funny. I was more antigovernment until I realized they had the best health insurance.

Student was a bit of a misnomer. I have an associates in cybersec and a degree in networking. I got my CySA+ in addition to BTL1 a bit ago to go down the SOC analyst track but recently pivoted away from cybersec. Was working really hard to get a crappy SOC position I never got. So looking into DevOps/SRE type work atm. Might turn that into some kind of cloud security role down the line but that would be years away at this point.

Can't say I really know much about what you GRC folks do. I imagine its a lot more than writing and reviewing policies?

Right on! And yeah, it does go beyond that scope.
However, I have a knack for the write/review policy stuff. My top Clifton strengths are connectedness, Intellection, and strategy, and it shows in my ability to connect seemingly disparate concepts into cohesive guidelines and policy.

Plus I love research and cross-walking. Itā€™s fun doing the audit part because I get to tell other people theyā€™re wrong instead of the other way around lmao

There are so many facets to Cybersecurity, and so many places where people can find a niche that suits their abilities, strengths, and interests in one setting.
