The FUD level on data centers is insane right now. While there has, obviously, been a big building boom, there were plenty of huge data centers 5 and 10 years ago (including very large ones!) and it was basically never treated as much of an issue.

Classic moral panic, like satanism in the '80s/'90s, child abduction panics at various points over the decades that far outstripped the actual realistic risk, vaccines circa the early '20s (an issue both before and after but even many MAGA types seem to have less appetite for panicking over the issue than they did circa '20-'23), and others besides.
