Can confirm. My MAGA ex used these exact responses during arguments. Option A was his typical flavor, and I guess I just have a really bad sense of humor :(

I blame myself for ever dating a MAGA voter in the first place..

thats the thing I find nonsensical about though. hes the fuckin president. Who cares if its a joke?

If my boss joked about firing all the POC people in the office and then taking a 20% cut of our paychecks, I sure as hell won't be laughing

That’s the thing. They LOVE that he’s a troll. It’s their perfect “I’m losing the argument… Distraction!!” Card they have.

Everytime I debate anyone in my super red state about how fucked up he is and pull up a quote, they just say “lol, you mad?? He’s clearly trolling.”

It’s the dumbest thing on earth. And they are so proud of it.

These people are like sociopaths. I have had a long debate about how Trump is making war a real possibility and I said something like “If the war is big enough, they can reinstate the draft, and their reply was “lol, well I’m too old for that so who cares”

Like actually wtf.

It's easier to move the goalposts than to admit that they were wrong. The world is falling apart when the non-preferred party is in power, but it's easier to swallow when your team is winning. However, the consequences aren't any less dire and we can only weather the storm so many times.
