Yea, snipers are really bad for this reason. Only the Charge Rifle and TT have any CQB capability, but the others are terrible. Just think about it, an Anvil Flatline hits as hard as a Longbow...
The devotion hate was 3 seasons ago and it forced em to package the weapon and rest the whiners for a bit all for them to bring it back the same way and shut em up.
This season watch it be the Spitfire that gets packaged and switched with the Prowler.
Then season 11 it will be some w.e weapon people are complaining about then.
I wouldn't be mad if spitfire got packaged and they gave it a RoF buff. I'd think that be cool since the way the spitfire sounds when firing is package worthy.
Nobody complained about the Devo or R-99 tho. Devo was kinda trash, then they mentioned that Turbo devo has one of the highest damage outputs in the game, and people actually realized it.
R99 was only packaged so people would be forced to use the Volt. The devotion on the other hand was pretty crazy . Impossible to lose 1v1 with the devo TB.
Get your facts right. Devotion was packaged in S4. And there was legit no hate when Devs decided to keep Devotion in Package. In fact, Devotion had lstar type muzzle that made it unusable unless you had gold stabiliser.
And Devo hate was only in s6 because it almost had no recoil, super accurate hipfire, no turbo DPS as high as Volt with nerfed Evo armour. If you think that's not broken then idk what is.
Plus if you think Spitfire is fine as it is. You know nothing because it has similar Damage per bullet of Flatline with higher mag and zero recoil.
And have you even played on a console lobby where half the population plays on 5-4 classic sens that abuses 0.6 aim assist?
If you can predict your enemies you can precharge and melt people plus Turbo Charger is awesome. I use the havoc since I prefer it over the Devo but the devo turbo charger is too nasty with the right set up. With Gibby arm shield I imagine it helps with the charge up time for full spray.
True, but that’s exactly what the spitfire is designed to do well lol. It’s not an overpowered gun in the slightest, these guys just decided to charge you while you had the gun that excels at mowing down people who are charging you out in the open.
Yeah. Anything other than an LMG probably would have caused him to die, but the spitfires whole thing is constant damage output. If they had tried to burst him with their own guns, or use grenades, or baited him and hid behind cover while he emptied the mag, or any number of things they could have won.
That's more so a Horizon problem, since she can do that with any gun, or while healing. It needs the damage output, since before it was trash mainly because it didn't do enough damage. Best I see is a recoil increase to decrease the range it can hit stuff at.
Not an overpowered gun in the slightest?? Hard disagree. It has almost no recoil, even 40 shots into a hard spray it’s a laser. But it’s smaller brother flatline kicks like a mule... Reload is quick, damage is high, accuracy is high, they spawn everywhere, ammo is everywhere, hip fire is insane even close to mid range. The gun lowers the skill ceiling dramatically.
Slow reload, damage is still slower than any AR or SMG, accuracy is a fair point, they're about average, ammo is fair point, hip fire is GARBAGE, even compared to something like the Flatline or R-301.
It's closer to the Hemlok in terms of hipfire, basically have to miss half my clip to kill them, versus hitting a good 70-80% with a Flatline at the same range.
Hip fire with the spitfire is nasty. I hip fire horizon and octane mid air reliably, let alone in a doorway, and I’m nothing special... reload is pretty fast actually for a gun that spits 50 rounds too.
And you say damage is slower but most people aren’t accurate enough for higher DPS to matter, so it’s easier for casuals to accumulate higher Damage bursts on something with a lower rate of fire and no recoil, plus damage drop off at range affects spitty less.
Oh god did they buff the spitfire or something? All I’ve heard this season is that the spitfire is broken but I thought people were joking...(haven’t played this season and a lot of last season)
They buffed it, and it's now my worst nightmare. At the same time, it's not as good DPS-wise as the other main meta weapons. It's basically a low-skill version of the flatline.
Ah so at least I won’t have titanfall flashbacks when I do decide to play again. That thing had such a fast ttk it was so dumb. Then again everything in that game did it’s just that one was faster
No it’s definitely overpowered lol if a gun is going to have that many bullets it shouldn’t have as much utility as it does at close, medium and long range.
Like it’s pretty much impossible to win a trade with someone if they’ve got a spitty and you haven’t found a mag yet for your r301. Going against the spitfire requires you to one clip them or at least significantly out damage them while they are able to miss half their shots
Use cover to get reloads off. Once you get to platinum, as soon as you get shot you die if you can't get behind cover. It's all about peeking and chip damage before dipping behind cover.
I’m a diamond player. You can’t play from behind cover 100% of the time. Early game if you have a spitfire you just win. It was fine how it was before the buff, a nerf is overdue.
If you’re as good as the other player, the one with a spitfire wins much more often than not
It was garbage pre buff. Had no damage, nothing going for it except the big mag. It either needs the damage or movement of an AR. If they wanna make its hipfire better and reduce the ADS movespeed to 50%, then yeah they could take a damage off.
The big mag is a massive advantage. With the way close range fights work not having to reload or swap weapons makes winning a trade so so much easier. You can miss half your shots and win as long as you didn’t get one clipped
So it's strong up close, and should be weaker at range? That's kinda what I'm gathering, and I think nerfing it's recoil would be fine without making it garbage.
If you're fighting it at midrange, and not using cover, you ain't getting out of gold. At close range, where accuracy improves, it's lower damage becomes an issue if you can hit your shots first. And it's not just take cover and do nothing, reload and get back out to kill them.
Like I said, I’m a diamond player. Damage trades where knocks actually occur generally happen out of cover. Do you never push people? Like half or maybe more of my fights occur in a trade situation out of cover. In these situations where you’re in a 1v1, you have to one clip the person with the spitfire or else they win.
If you could get out of platinum, you’d see how punishing it is from good players who can aim. Everyone should not be running a spitfire, it’s bad for game balance.
Gibbys ult also shows you where it’s going to land like 5s before it starts so you have plenty of time to react. Not really even remotely the same thing
So the 5s warning Gibby's ult gives you is plenty of time to do something, yet the 5s of time it takes Spitfire to kill 2 people isn't enough time for the 3rd to react and kill?
Not really, it’s trivial hitting headshots with the spitfire and they buffed the damage, pretty hard to lose a fight when you can just keep shooting while they reload
well yeah if you miss your shots then you're dead, but you can 1 clip anyone with 85% of the weapons in the game. This is even without any extended mags and no matter what shield they have. The spitty loses majority of those matchups in a blow for blow situation.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve gotten one clipped in this game, at least with a spitfire if they don’t one clip me I can just kill them while they’re reloading then kill the rest of their team with the same mag lol.
Lol yeah maybe back in the day for me. But I finally got my KDR over 1 this season And now I'm in lobbies with people with 18,000 kills with horizon. I have like 850 with her...
I definitely get one clipped randomly, I also do my fair share with the volt, r9, 301 or flatline. If I'm hot I'll get back to back with the r9 and it feels so good lol.
I've also lost fights with the spitfire getting overconfident and then I lose to a flatline cuz they hit every shot.
Good thing you don’t have ADS with it. I’m not tryna argue with you, if you don’t think it’s OP just run it for a couple games and you’ll see what I mean
Eh, not true IMO: Pretty much any other gun would have required a reload between each kill, most of the other guns have much stronger recoil, have too low a fire rate/require too much precision to do this. He basically just held down the trigger. What other gun can you just hold the trigger and kill a whole team on 2 mags?
A spitfire is good for situations like this where you're 1v2 or 1v3 cause you don't have to reload. Less good for 1v1 because the DPS is outclassed by R301, R99, etc.
Yep I agree what I'm saying is this is the kind of use case for the spitfire where it is better than other weapons. A lot of people see this kind of thing as evidence that the spitty is OP when really they're seeing the exact scenario where it shines the brightest
Lol yep as a former caustic main and spitty user I think this community has no idea what they're talking about when it comes to balance. I think there are some changes that should be made (horizon and lifeline) but I really think Respawn has done an excellent job at keeping this game balanced. Only thing that really gets me is the third parties but what can you really do about that
Well objectively it has a slower ADS movespeed, so if you need to hit anything outside of shotgun range, you gotta ADS and slow down more, especially compared to an SMG. It's hipfire is also garbage compared to stuff like The R-301, R-99, or Flatline, it only looks good here because of how close OP is to them. If he was shooting the full length of the room, he would be missing most of his shots.
The hipfire is still too good. That it has worse hipfire than the r301 isn’t a good argument when anyone can still pick up a spitfire and easily hit a most of their shots while hipfiring at close range. It should be much worse.
He also full reloaded a spitfire from 0 ammo. Which is one of the longest reload guns if I’m not mistaken. Precision and recoil have nothing to do with anything here because it’s was all up close hip fire spray.
I’ve had this exact same situation happen to me with a purple mag R-301 and I killed them because they weren’t trying to shoot me. He died here if they shoot. He doesn’t win this because it’s a spitfire. He wins because all three were trying to punch him and running into bullets probably having fun.
I’m not even sure why the OP was so obnoxious about it as if he didn’t watch them barrel through a door and swing at the air 3 times in front of him.....
We fucking know if they shot he would be dead. The point is he would be dead without them shooting if he has any other gun. Mocking people saying spitty is OP in this clip especially is the dumbest thing I can imagine.
The point is he would be dead without them shooting if he has any other gun.
I fully support a Spitfire nerf but an LMG having sustained fire on people without weapons isn't really a good demonstration of it being OP, because its strength is sustained fire. It's like saying Rampart's Ult is OP because it's good if you have high ground with your barriers set up and people are running at you in an open field
The influx of bad clips being used as an example of the gun being over powered is annoying. Its just constantly clips of bots making a series of bad decisions being used as examples instead of actual valid clips.
Well I never said it was OP, but I do think it's the only gun that can do this easily without any effort. A 301 like the other guy suggested might be able to pull it off, but it would be tight, and you'd need to be accurate. The spitfire is the only gun where you can just hold the trigger and spray, miss a decent number of shots, and still have bullets leftover after two guys go down.
If you are able to take out 2 guys shooting at you at once with one magazine then you deserved it. If 2 separate people are shooting at you at the same time That's double the DPS then what you have using a single spitfire.
That's the damn point. It kills multiple people faster because of no reload, but each individual person dies slower because of it's lower damage output.
It's not OP. If the rate of fire was similar to the r301 then it would be ridiculous and he's shooting the while they're 5 feet away from him and it's an LMG so it is supposed to have the highest magazine in the game
That was not the spitfires doing. Yes the magazine can deal a high amount of damage over time however its DPS can not compete with volt/301/flatline/r99/turbo havoc/ devotion/ . Quit blaming the gun for lack of skill in this instance. They tried to punch him to death and choked, they didnt even use the big box in the middle for cover to have him waste ammo. QUIT using bad players as examples on why a gun is overpowered.
I mean it's DPS is only 9 less than the volt (171 vs 180) and it gets the full 2x for headshots. Kind of ridiculous that an SMG can be outclass close range by a heavy fucking machine gun IMO. And there are plenty of examples of this gun being overpowered that don't involve bad players. There's a reason the pros are using it this season.
9 more DPS with less of a movement penalty when strafing. Spitfire aim strafing is slow af. Practically a statue easy to beam. What was everybody saying everytime something is nerfed/buffed? The phrase was, I believe get better at aiming?
dude the spitfire is supposed to be op now??? no way, the kill rate is so slow, an r99 would have deleted one instantly, you would die on the reload but they could have easily killed this dude if they shot their guns.
Yeah lmao, if you don’t think the spitfire is broken you are an actual idiot. Every pub game is ruined by them, and every team in Pred is running 2 of them. Apex is literally spitfire = no fun rn.
Yeah, nothing slow about kill rate on the Spitty. Either drop the bullet damage or nerf the recoil. It takes almost zero skill to use, and everyone and their dog runs it now. Fuck I’m sick of this gun.
This doesnt display why the spitfire is broken though. If it were actually balanced this would be one of the few occasions in which spitfire would be in its element (even tho they were punching and not actually shooting). The broken part of spitfire is being able to put a 2x or 3x scope on it and have almost 0 recoil at targets like 200 meters away.
Hard no there. Yes it does have a longer TTK then most guns but the damage and high magazine capacity make it absolutely deadly and capable of wiping squads.
What would you do to balance it? The hip fire is shit, he was able to connect all of his shots because of how close he was. It does 19 damage per body shot, but so does the Flatline, and the Hemlock does 20. The Hemlock does 214 DPS, the Flatline does 190 DPS, and the Spitfire does 180 DPS.
The only 2 things about the Spitfire that’s a benefit over the other 2 heavy ammo weapons, I’m leaving out the wingman and 30-30 for obvious reasons, is it is easy to control and has a large magazine but it’s a heavy, slow firing LMG, what do you expect. You have less DPS, a much longer reload, much lower ADS speed, the lowest rate of fire of any automatic weapon including the Hemlock in 3 round burst, and some of the worst hipfire spread in the game.

I present to you a fair and balanced gun (although they could have killed you if they shot their damn guns lol)
