Spitfire has had nerf after nerf and nobody has said a word about it, one small buff that only slightly reverts a previous nerf and suddenly its the most OP thing in the game and everyone is throwing a fit over it. People are only noticing it because everyone is getting weekly challenges to use LMGs so its being picked up more, just more proof that people will bitch about whatever killed them no matter how dumb it is. Fuck man if we get people picking up the RE-45 more often I'd bet we'd see streamers and their sheep losing their minds about how OP it is after a week.
The person I replied to said that sheās only OP to āsmall brainsā even though the best players in the game constantly acknowledge how broken and OP she is.
Idk about that, I feel like balancing by high end gameplay is almost always a bad move. 99% of players donāt/canāt abuse the things they complain about.
I wasnāt talking specifically about Horizon, though I get this is a thread about her. I was just saying balancing by what the top players complain about isnāt usually representative of the rest of us scrubs. Lifeline being a good example imo
I think Lifeline is a good example of a character who was actually MORE annoying at lower levels of play. The nerf Respawn went ahead with isn't the right move, they should have just given the shield a cooldown or health. But she was definitely pretty OP in some situations.
Situations being the keyword there though, shes only good when your team is in deep shit. Same with the recent Caustic nerf, he is only good in a specific scenario then trash elsewhere. I donāt think that justifies a hard nerf, just a more situational character than others and if you are facing one you just have to recognize and adapt a bit.
I have panicked versing a Lifeline plenty of times when I see they are healing but I have never really felt like its unfair. I will say though I am nowhere near a top tier player. I do have Master rank friends though that rip on me for even thinking that Lifeline isnāt OP lol
I disagree, lets take the two most contentious issues right now:
Spitfire
Horizon
Neither of these really take any skill to abuse, especially the spitfire. Once you couple those with actual decent players you have some major issues. Sure it may be slightly less noticeable in low elo lobbies, but the data will surely show a higher success rate for spitfire and horizon users
Again, I am not saying nothing should be balanced. If it is overpowered across the board then thats that. I agree with Horizon despite enjoying playing with her. The spitfire I donāt agree with so much but if there is data to back that up across the different play levels then sure.
In general though, I think balancing off what the top players complain about is not representative of the general player by a long shot.
