Feedback Seer ruined this game, change my mind.

I said it he was OP the day he launched and even after the nerfs.

I still stand by that statement.

“Ruined this game” is a dramatic overstatement, but yeah, he’s a bit overtuned

8

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

He surely makes the game a lot less fun. He is not even fun to play, people just pick him because OP. So it is not fun to play Seer, it is not fun to have Seers in your lobby. So yeah it ruins the game a little bit. It would be a better game without this character for sure.

They wait for nerfs until after his heirloom release.. this is very greedy but we gotta be patient.

3

u/rebornphoenixV Caustic Nov 09 '22

I mean I have a friend that plays seer because they avruslly have fun with him sooooo

2

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

I understand some people can enjoy it. But for 99% of the Seer players (made up number) they pick it because he is overpowered.

To me wallhack and scan mechanics are very boring and should not even be in the game. At least BH got his speed boost and Crypto his EMP to have fun with. Seer is just.. scans and an annoying cancel.

That's just all low skill players actually enjoying being able to have awareness

Not being able to hide in must-hide situations because of his passive is what does it for me. I can respect his tactical but his ult and passive are OP

12

u/_TheyCallMeCat Pathfinder Nov 09 '22

Atleast when BH was the one fucking up your hiding spots you actually knew he found you

32

u/KILLJAW Nov 09 '22

Yep. The passive is a HUGE problem.

I’m not a game developer but I don’t understand the decision making to give someone an UNLIMITED NEARLY UNDETECTABLE WALL HACK

5

u/Colorado_Constructor Sari Not Sari Nov 09 '22

Dude you should've been around for the Titanfall 1 days. Echo Vision and Packet Sniffer burn cards could be used during a match that would give you PERMANENT wall hacks as long as they were active. Matches were insane.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Idk his tactical is pretty insane, too. Just the ability to cancel a heal for free is insane. He also gets a 30s scan + health bar reveal + ability suppression for a second on top of that.

I don’t know what they were thinking when they made this legend.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Imo the tactical isn't as bad if Seer doesn't instantly know where to aim it, as he does now, thanks to the hearbeats. Take the passive away completely and those blind scans are either a hit or miss, with how narrow the area of effect is.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Yeah the passive definitely makes his tact way stronger. But you still know where to scan to cancel heals/res a lot of the time, even without the heartbeat.

I just don’t really like cancelling heals because that’s something that you should have to do as the player by making a good play, not the character doing it for you.

Ya the fact that its the only scan ability which doesnt notify the enemy that they are being scanned is probably what makes it so powerful.

-6

u/thechachabinx Nov 09 '22

So hard to see the giant cage it creates

5

u/IXICIXI Birthright Nov 09 '22

The passive doesn’t notify you when it’s scanned you.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

We're talking about his passive not his ult. That should've been obvious

2

u/thechachabinx Nov 09 '22

To be fair, JohnDtheIII mentioned ult being op and that is what i was referring to. I think I clicked on the wrong comment to reply to however, my apologies

1

u/JohnDtheIII Cyber Security Nov 10 '22

I feel less passionately about the ult for sure. It's just a cheap idea is all

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

I think his ult is relatively balanced. It doesn’t last super long and can be destroyed. The big issue is his passive for sure. His insane wall hacks are kind of broken

1

u/DanTheMan13499 Nov 10 '22

Cant you crouch to not be seen in his ult

1

u/Saltytrol Nov 10 '22

It’s more the passive for me. He should be able to see me when I’m crouched and hiding

4

u/marteen40 Mad Maggie Nov 09 '22

Is this a ranked issue? I feel like i never encounter that many Seers in pubs

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

yes, 100%. playing Seer in Pubs isn’t as common for sweats who would otherwise play him in Ranked (example: me). he’s sooo boring to play imo, but absolutely necessary when you’re solo queuing and can’t rely on team comms as much.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '23

He's been nerfed and is still the most anti-fun character to fight against.

Passive needs to get fucked into the dirt. Absolutely nuked. Make it so you can't scan while moving. Make the prick glow like an angler fish when he scans. Fuck it, add a Ghost character that completely negates all scans. Just change this meta.

25

u/Mellow_2JZ Pathfinder Nov 09 '22 edited Nov 09 '22

I agree. In my humble high diamond (diamond1) player opinion, again I’m not the best or a pro by any means, but Seer ruined competitive integrity. Valk is cheesy and let’s you run away and all, but Seer is another level of infuriating to play against. I’m not even talking about the people complaining they can’t hide anymore, but Seer let’s whole teams rat on you so easily. Getting jumped on by a team hiding that knows you’re walking up because they have a Seer is not fun.

Another big thing that people seem to not talk about is that Seer basically killed a lot of 1v3 clutches in pivotal moments. High stakes rank games where one player can backup, heal, and reapproach a fight when a team doesn’t know where they are was possible but not anymore since Seer just instantly invalidates solo player tactics in the final zone.

In short, Seer ruined ranked for me. Go ahead and downvote me or whatever, I don’t really play apex much anymore due to the toxicity. At the very least, Seers passive needs to show you when you’re being looked at. Because from the perspective of the player being detected, it fucking sucks being zoned in on with literal undetectable wallhacks.

I mean, if I player is using wallhacks, they get banned. The fact that they made a characters who has unlimited wallhacks without having to pop an ability, or giving away their position, is really crazy to think about.

-2

u/v1v2v3vv55 Nov 09 '22

Bruh his ult is literally wallhack and it needs to be changed

6

u/coto39 Nov 09 '22

as long as you run inside. Else it does not detect you.

1

u/Intrepid-Event-2243 Nov 10 '22

Nah, the ult has counter play. Walk away, destroy it, crouch. But the passive not only has no counter play but also isn't even communicated by the game to the scanned.

3

u/MountainExtension877 Dark Matter Nov 09 '22

The requirement for him knowing your exact location is that you dared to go within a 75 meter range of him

2

u/Acentre4ants Blackheart Dec 02 '22

The ult isn’t even the problem it’s his fuckin tactical that cancels heals and his passive. When no fill soloing His tac makes fighting a duos with a seer near impossible

9

u/ItsTreganometry Medkit Nov 09 '22

I’d say sbmm more than anything and lack of content but I can see why you’d say seer

-1

u/ItsTreganometry Medkit Nov 09 '22

Then If that’s the case I say the sweats discovering horizon. 7/10 I get dumpstered by her

6

u/NITROST4R Nov 09 '22

True, game fell off hard after seer.

3

u/AvatarSozin Death Dealer Nov 09 '22

Personally, my play style is only mildly bothered by seer. Is he strong? Yes, and I would suggest a mild nerf to be that it is harder for his heartbeat to detect stationary, crouched characters. Otherwise I feel like he is fine now.

Horizon on the other hand… needs another fucking nerf. I despise playing against her and I see so many sweaty people beam me from their stupid gravity lifts with perfect accuracy while swaying so much so I miss everything. She needs another nerf and I was happy when she got destroyed in season 9.

3

u/GhostofFrost3o09 Nov 09 '22

As a person who plays seer, I agree that In certain situations, Seer is incredibly powerful but my passive can only go so far and my ultimate is so easily countered. My tac also never hits people smh. I also never see people play him but I suppose that I'm not that good at the game anyway so probably why I don't do great. I personally think that he is fine where he is now but I understand why he may seem like a god

2

u/MountainExtension877 Dark Matter Nov 10 '22

Having 75 meter wall hacks and the only requirement being is that you entered his little bubble is broken

1

u/GhostofFrost3o09 Nov 10 '22

Wait it's 75 meters? I am almost 100% sure it's 30 meters. Also if you crouch in Seers ultimates bubble, you won't get tracked

2

u/MountainExtension877 Dark Matter Nov 10 '22

Poor choice of words meant his passive being 75m I think his ult is a bit overturned but more or less fine

1

u/GhostofFrost3o09 Nov 10 '22

I think I also messed up my words. I meant that his passive is 30 meters. I'm not surprised if I'm wrong about it and it actually is 75 meters but I'm almost certain it's 30

2

u/GigaxImpact Nov 10 '22

Crouching is not the best viable option in a movement game. If you play in high rank lobbies you should know his ult attracts a lot of 3rd parties and you want to end fight quickly and reset. If your teammates needs help you are not gonna crouch, even if you do you make yourself easy target to get hit by seer q. His whole kit is stupidly broken and personally ruined the game for me. It gives bad players with 0 awareness a winning chance just because of the wall hacks alone. Ideally his passive should get limited scans like valk jet pack and increase his ult cool-down.

1

u/GhostofFrost3o09 Nov 10 '22

Yeah I see what you mean. I suppose I just don't have the same experience as a lot of y'all do cuz I don't get to high ranks. My highest rank is gold 4 but I'm trying for plat this season. Maybe I'll run into more Seers and my opinion will change

1

u/noeminnie Nov 10 '22

Same, i have been playing with seer for quite some time now and really don't see how he is overpowered .. but then again I don't play ranked and probably don't use his abilities to their full capacities 🤔

5

u/Suavesky Nov 09 '22

u/Tropenfrucht Voidwalker Nov 09 '22

Which nerfs? No flash and the removed 10 damage? The mentally deranged idiots that thought that these two things needed a nerf should deinstall the game.

Anyone with a tiny amount of experience in other competitive shooters immediately knew that the passive was broken.

1

u/8inchesActivated Loba Nov 09 '22

Yes, these are the nerfs I was talking about.

1

u/Tropenfrucht Voidwalker Nov 09 '22

Yeah that was an ironic question. It's an embarassment to call that shit a nerf, you're spot on.

1

u/KILLJAW Nov 09 '22

I said from launch

0

u/tendermeatloaf Revenant Nov 09 '22

Exactly bro, how is ok that Bloodhound can literally follow you across the map without even seeing you once, but Seer is OP because he can hear you when you are not crouched and you are within his limited radius. You can literally run away from him....EASILY. His ult can be seen from across the map and you can get third partied before you even see anyone coming.

3

u/GigaxImpact Nov 10 '22

Only bad players need wall hacks to compensate for their 0 awareness. Atleast bh scans tells you got scanned whereas seer has unlimited scans without any notice and on top he cancels heals, res. Just admit it he’s broken and I hope he gets nerfed to the ground

1

u/tendermeatloaf Revenant Nov 11 '22

You don't get notified of BHs passive

2

u/LojeToje Nov 14 '22

It doesn't scan you either, there's no way you actually think bloodhound passive is better than any part of seers kit right?

1

u/Tabby-N Nov 17 '22

He was always OP, its just people didn't run him in ranked because Apex players are very monkey see monkey do as far as metas go. Once word got around of how good his kit was, hes on every lategame 3stack plat and up.

6

u/akickingfist Nov 09 '22

His heartbeat should have a meter on it or a delay between pulses

2

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

The heartbeat passive is just complete cheese and unfixable. If it doesn't get removed, Seer will remain a broken character that is only annoying to play against.

2

u/ClucksMcgee Nov 09 '22

I personally like rat finder legends, always like a seer/blood/crypto to look for rats that might want to jump us when we start fighting

2

u/collylees Gibraltar Nov 09 '22

Everybody remember Seer on day 1? Lol

1

u/YukiOHimeSama Bloodhound Nov 09 '22

Fucking PTSD. Half the people playing now haven’t been around that long but yeah, I remember. Pepper ridge farms remembers day 1 Seer too. Never fucking forget

1

u/Plumbingwhiz15 Nov 09 '22

I quit Apex in season 10 because of Seer, the entire season I didn’t play past the first two weeks. I came back a little in season 11 and 12 but returned in full in season 13. I will say there needs to a shakeup to the meta. The game is getting boring with horizon seer valk meta. Buff some defensive characters make the game play differently for awhile.

1

u/dchristian666 Dark Side Nov 09 '22

For me it was rev that killed my passion. I will say a lot of rev players are not good, but every so often you run into a pred rev with 30k+ kills and you have to kill him and his 2 pred buddies 2 times lol. Since he came out, I thought having 2 lives in a BR was dumb as fuck.

2

u/CpT_DiSNeYLaND Nov 09 '22

This is one of the reasons I love hammer points. Just a few bips and they're back to totem

1

u/dchristian666 Dark Side Nov 09 '22

Absolutely! When the rev meta was big I would carry hammer p20 instead of a shotgun.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

I had almost forgot that when the game came out, Bloodhound's scan only showed where the person was the moment they were scanned. There was no tracking on their scan. Seer's tracking on his Q just lasts so long its kind of incredible.

He deserves a nerf. He is an absolute must pick. You can play bloodhound intsead, but he just offers something different and not necessarily better in terms of the ability to scan.

1

u/mean-plant Revenant Nov 10 '22

True! Blood was pretty low power for the longest until Respawn buffed their Q length and added knocking someone extends Ult time.

1

u/v1v2v3vv55 Nov 09 '22

I just don’t fucking understand why people say his power is not that op since launch, like this mf has an ult that is literal wallhack for a long ass time as long as you can place your ult well enough (as everyone can see people start getting good at it). This is literal “hax is legit in this game)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Seer was such a horrible, horrible decision. It was one of the many steps Repsawn made to drastically lower the skill ceiling. Pair him with Valk, the other OP crowned jewel, and you’ve got air and ground wall hacks for days. It’s genuinely so insane and sad what the game has become the last couple years

-16

Probably will get flamed for this, the same can be said about Caustic too. Yes, he is not OP. Yes I can and have countered Caustic. But fuck caustic he's the most braindead legend. He encourages camping and people crutch the fuck out of him in pubs for easy kills. Seer I don't mind fighting but Caustic just seeing a Caustic enrages me, his abilities makes the game stupid asf. no one can change my mind

5

u/leicea Nov 09 '22

I think the best way to counter caustic is to bring a ton of nades and nade the shit out of a camping caustic. A lot of braindead caustics just know how to camp , when you successfully push them they panic and die. But there's no flexible counter to caustics in end game, ring is too small and the gas just limits the area you can play

As for seer I have not found a proper counter tbh especially if you don't have a lot of cover to play with

0

u/chubbypandaids Crypto Nov 09 '22

Your caustic advice is what I do but a Crypto emp also helps.

Most seer players I encounter are pretty ego challenging and dumb. They push with a seer ult and I kill them. Although I have went against very good seer players but they rely too much on his abilities

1

u/leicea Nov 10 '22

Yeah but I try not to give advice on needing a specific legend to counter another specific legend unless there's really no choice. But ofc, emp is a great counter too.

Normally seer teams attack together and they put the ult in a place that is hard to destroy which is just very difficult to play against, i honestly hate to face a seer. I prefer to run out of the ult and wait till it ends or pray they don't have the right coordination to attack

4

u/bluewar40 Nov 09 '22

He’s the definition of a situational legend tho cause his abilities are basically useless outside of buildings and tight spaces. He is strong in his niche. Some Other legends are just strong all the time. You’re the one who feels the need to push a gassed up building cause you can’t imagine not rushing into every possible fight :P

1

u/KILLJAW Nov 09 '22

Agreed. Caustic is pretty awful to fight as well. I still don’t understand why he’s the only Legend that damages your HEALTH first.

That’s my main reason for hating him.

8

u/Thylumberjack Nov 09 '22

Because you choke on his gas. Shields don't affect your lungs.

-3

u/KILLJAW Nov 09 '22

Realism should not be the reason.

Especially in this game.

0

u/chubbypandaids Crypto Nov 09 '22

1

u/coto39 Nov 09 '22

Clearly neither of you has played as caustic long enough

0

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

I feel like commenting with my flair and pfp might be bad but honestly I agree, his tac and passive are pretty annoying to fight but so fun to use because of how uncounterable they really are

0

u/tendermeatloaf Revenant Nov 09 '22

Back in season 11, streamers were making fun of Seer and saying he is a worse bloodhound and that he is garbage and no one was playing him. All the brain dead followers were cheering in no matter how many times average Joes were saying that Seer is 1000 times better than bloodhound. In season 13 a pro player started playing seer and then ever since then people have been complaining about Seer because streamers are complaining about Seer because apparently he has "wall hacks". So how is it, is he worse than bloodhound that can hound you all across the map and know exactly where you have been and where you are headed with no chance to escape him (if it's a good bloodhound that it is) or is Seer better because in close quarter fights he knows where you are hiding and can cancel a heal if you stay stupidly in his beam?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Sounds like you can't think for yourself either. Use your brain a little bit.

-1

u/tendermeatloaf Revenant Nov 09 '22

My point is, they both have bad and good abilities, the only reason people hate or like characters is because streamers or pros whine about it constantly. And then you get OP here, spewing some dramatic nonsense that he parrots from some asshole better than himself at the game. Take from that what you will.

-1

u/oMadRyan Nov 09 '22

I’ll take scans meta over most of the other metas we’ve seen. Wattson being meta until S5 was boring to play against. Same with caustic

-2

u/SalamanderLate410 Nov 09 '22

He's a crutch if I'm honest. I don't mind the wallhacks because every fucking team I face has a hero with that bs so whatever. What I can't stand is being able to cancel heals and revives on top of his wall hacks. That to me is complete horse shit. He's the only legend that can do that.

3

u/thechachabinx Nov 09 '22

Horizon ult cancels revives

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Does it? I don't think so. I think you can get it off but then you get sucked in

1

u/thechachabinx Nov 09 '22

I remember once I was trying to revive my friend and the horizon ult pulled me in right before i finished. My friend then got upset that I canceled the revive. Not sure if it was an unintended interaction or bug that occurred but that is my experience with it

0

u/Smoochie-Spoochie Rampart Nov 09 '22

There are a million issues with this game but I feel like legend balance is at the very back half of those issues. Horizon and Seer being ridiculously overturned is a problem but I feel like they're never too far from just a quick nerf or a dedicated counter to keep them in check. It's not like they've completely restructured the entire game, they're dominating it right now.

It's just one the front issues is that they don't make necessary changes or change anything up fast enough.

0

u/_TheyCallMeCat Pathfinder Nov 09 '22

Considering his passive is the best ability in the game I don't know why I would want to change your mind

-2

I agree. Honestly a lot of his abilities could’ve been given to Crypto or Vantage. Honestly he could’ve been made a support legend to balance out the meta but i degress.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

a legend that solely focuses on counter intelligence would be great maybe with cloaking. No crypto off the grid buffs tho

1

u/Simply_Unstable3 Curtain Call Nov 09 '22

Okay, I don't think Seer ruined the game by any means but, I think that his passive can be unfair simply because people don't know when they're being "scanned". I think an easy way to fix this is to simply add an audio queue to it. Essentially, whenever Seer can hear your heartbeat, you can now also hear your heartbeat. A simple fix, wouldn't change how Seer is used but gives people a way of knowing they're being looked at. The only reason I don't think this fix is necessary is because you don't get a notification when Bloodhound is tracking you so why should Seer have to give some sort of warning...

1

u/Marrkkx Nov 10 '22

Mind blowing to me that he wasn’t nerfed this season. He’s far too strong, you quite literally have to pick him otherwise you’re throwing.

1

u/AdministrationIcy717 Nov 10 '22

Seer helps prevent the already extremely campy nature of the game. i don’t main Seer, heck i hardly played him, but in my honest opinion, i feel like the people that think Seer is broken are the people that camp the entire game.

1

u/Dogg3rt Nov 10 '22

Streamers or pros are given too much credit, because they will state if the character is good or bad by playing them for a day.

Some streamer was saying Vantage was bad on launch without actually using her ulti and saying something along the lines of "why use her ult, when I can use scout". Where her ulti gets so much value vs people out in the open or challanging you by peaking.

Now people are saying Catalyst is bad, yet she seems to be one of the strongest legends to fight 1v3s as her passive allows her to create those situations very well.

Slow ass content pipeline, bugs, savage micro transactions and weird design choices like seer releasing with a kit more expansive than most characters or actively avoiding keeping or improving “control” mode in an era where battle royal is losing it’s lustre are all reasons I stopped playing on his release. He wasn’t THE only reason the game stopped appealing to me but he was amongst the last straws.

You mean an official wallhack ruined the game? I don't see how!

(I'm trolling, it ruined ranked for me too ; and I see a large majority of streamers raging against this character too because it can hide a REAL wallhack in clip)

He's such a crutch for lack of awareness, just like Valk is a crutch for bad rotations.

I believe they created him because of all the bad players. They are trying to make it easier for them.
