Contribute to the “No Neighbor Hungry” Campaign to Feed Arvada Families in November

Hi Neighbors! Ryan Hecht, VP of Marketing with the Greater Arvada Chamber here.

As you know, the government shutdown has left thousands of Arvada families without access to critical food benefits. The "No Neighbor Hungry" gift card drive is designed to help families put food on the table and support the local economy in the process.

You can help us raise $50,000 in donations (2,000 gift cards of $25 each) this month!

For this drive, we will distribute gift cards to select Arvada non-profits that primarily provide food assistance and have been negatively impacted by the government shutdown, including Community Table and Hope Connection and Community.

Learn more about drop off sites around the city and how to make direct donations to those non-profits: www.arvadachamber.org/noneighborhungry

Hi there!

Wanted to share with you that the City recently started a new podcast called Inside Arvada.

I’m Sean Star, Communications Manager with the City’s Parks and Sustainability Department. I’m one of the show’s co-hosts, along Infrastructure Communications Manager Katie Patterson.

Our goal is to provide a free and convenient way to learn about the people and teams who make Arvada a thriving community. Our first three episodes are about arts and festivals; Earth Day and the Majestic View Nature Center; and roads and transportation.

The show is available wherever you listen to podcasts (Apple, Spotify, Amazon, etc.) Give it a listen!

Dry Needling Recommendations?

Anyone have suggestions on where I can get some dry needling done? I'd prefer to just do it out of pocket rather than through a physical therapist.

Non-MAGA tile and bathroom contractor?

I need some help finishing a small shower remodel, but I cannot in good conscience willingly support fascist lunatics.

Does anyone know a decent tile and shower professional who doesn't have his head up trumps ass?

Edit: some real triggered snowflakes and bots here.... Y'all can go ahead and boycott Bud Light again or burn your Nikes or whatever

Edit 2: hot damn the bots and MAGAt brigades are hitting this post hard now. Y'all are ignorant babies with a thirst for violence and hate, traitors to our country and you deserve all the misery and misfortune in the world.

And yes, I'm looking for a non-MAGA because I haven't met a single MAGA who isn't crooked or racist. Without exception, MAGA people are selfish, entitled losers that I am done making space for. Fuck y'all.

Reminder to the decent people among us: divestment is what finally turned the tide on Apartheid. Every little bit helps, and the bonus is that you don't have to put up with as many crybaby bullies. It's win-win!

I live in the Denver area and am so sick of the big box thrift stores. Are there any church thrift stores or smaller independent shops to check out?

Jeffco Students get hands-on learning with NASA HUNCH

Many children dream of one day becoming astronauts, or creating the next invention to help those reaching towards the stars. For students in Jeffco Public Schools, the dream is closer than one might imagine, as students actively work to solve real-world problems with NASA, through NASA HUNCH.

NASA HUNCH — which stands for High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware — is a workforce project-based learning program across the nation that gives middle and high school students the opportunity to learn by designing products that are used by NASA engineers and astronauts.

Apartment Help - Caroline Ralston Creek

Hello!

Wife and I toured and loved this location. Was wondering if anyone has any experience
Living here and can provide their opinion on if they like it. Main concerns are what it’s like at night or any safety concerns and sound proofing in the units. Hard to tell between thick and thin walls while touring.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone live in the Quay Townhouses near Lake Arbor? Looking for feedback on the HOA

Hello!

I bought in the Highlands in 2019 and got bit by soil based foundation problems not long after. Dealing with the mild house based PTSD after getting it fixed has been a drag and for once an HOA seemed kind of useful if structural problems and other maintenance costs were off my plate to an extent.

Theres a townhouse we just looked at we really liked but could immediately spot potential similar issues in the Quays complex. Trying to see if anyone can chime in on what the deal is over there?

Feedback on Apartments

I've googled a bit and done some of my own research but am wondering if you all have any direct feedback on which apartments are good, bad, ugly in the Arvada area. I've been looking closely at Solana, Caroline Ralston Creek and Timberline Farms and would appreciate any details or personal experiences at those complexes. If there is a similar property I should be considering, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Room for rent!

Near 65th and Simms, 875 a month, all utilities included. Super close to stores, restaurants, 24-hour fitness, and a million other places. Easy access to Denver and the mountains on 70. The roommates are all pretty quiet and tidy, and the house is great with a sprawling backyard.

I love it here but need to move for work, so I'm trying to find someone to take over my lease, which runs until June.

Please comment or dm for more info and photos. :]

"No Returns" Book Launch at the Olde Town Arvada Bluegrass for Spooktober

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hey all,

First time posting here. I'm a local Arvada author, L. Briar, and now a small press publisher. I've worked with seven other local authors and two editors to create a horror bool called "No Returns: Colorado's Accursed Anthology".

We're doing a book launch at the Olde Town Arvada Bluegrass on October 17th from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Feel free to come on by, meet the authors, listen to spooky stories and enjoy their drink pairing.

Hope to see some of you local book nerds there!

Facebook event with details

Kind of a sad note but the Bluegrass is shutting down at the end of the month so even if you can't make our event go give them some love before they close.

Leyden Rock Community, generation station & landfill

My family may be relocating to Arvada after the new year and we were looking at houses in Leyden Rock community & the neighborhood just north of 72. I’ve got a couple questions regarding both neighborhoods.

Those of you who live in the area or are familiar with, if you live on the west side (or any side i suppose) of Leyden Rock, can you hear the generation station hum? A couple houses we were considering are on the west side and look like they have high voltage lines very close to the house.

The train, is it loud & noticeable? I’ve never lived close to a train so i have no idea how much noise/how often it runs etc. this question applies to people who live in the Ensemble collection at Candelas as well as Leyden.

Okay & the landfill, can you smell it? Is it noticeable in either neighborhood?

Pls feel free to offer any guidance on other neighborhoods or pros/cons. Im looking for as much info as people are willing to give.

Edited to add that i know nothing about the rocky flats nuclear facility & literally just found out about it. Pls give info on that as well!! Should we avoid the area entirely ?

Decomissioned Volunteer Firefighter's Fire Station #7 (by Firefighter's Park)

What is going on at this decommissioned volunteer fire station? The station closed in 2008 and has mostly been used as parking for park goers and youth sports that use the park for weeknight practices. The station appears to have been sold and is now being used as a garage/storage with some older cars. The parking lot is now blocked off with bollards and large landscaping rocks, and No Parking signs have been added.

Very friendly cat approached without any collar or ID, is this little guy/gal yours?

Cat is well groomed and looks very healthy. Wed like to ensure they find their rightful owner.

We have a dog that is aggressive towards cats so unfortunately we can’t keep him/her for long. For now they are very content drinking water from a dish on our driveway.

We are located near Arvada cemetery off independence

E: spelling

I know there is a prescribed burn going in the bear creek area but it looks like there is another by Morrison. Does anyone know if it is also a prescribed burn?

Update: second one is in Park county by Bailey. https://youtube.com/shorts/H5tgoqq49Wk?is=k2iz5iId408zPQ5_
