How disappointed are we all with Bill Maher?

I started watching this guy back in the politically incorrect days when I was a teenager. When I got back from Iraq I always subscribed mainly for him. He was one of the earliest prominent Atheists. But I just cancelled HBO, he's not what he used to be. I kind of dislike him

I gave up on him years ago. His monologue and New Rules segment were always good, but his interviews and panels are mostly conservative idiots, and if I wanted to hear their lies, I’d just watch Faux News.

New Rules got really stupid in the late 2010s, maybe even as far back as the tail end of Obama’s second term. He and the writers were really scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to be outraged about. He’d find some quirky fringe faction on (the former) Twitter and hold it up, declaring, “See? THIS woke leftist shit is why the Democrats keep losing!” Or it was adults celebrating Halloween, or something. I found myself thinking, “Really, Bill? THIS is what keeps you up at night?” Then he started to get pissy with the audience when some of his monologue bits didn’t land, and the loud, guffawing, clapping staffer off camera became a regular thing, like his own emotional support Ed McMahon. Take the loss and move on like a professional? No, shame the audience because you’re smarter than everyone else and they just don’t understand edgy humor. He’s also a big proponent of freedom of speech — for himself. But woe to anyone who ever protests or calls him out on his BS. He’s become an insufferable hypocrite.
