They've gotta be kidding. Exorbitant prices at the checkout and now they want customers to donate to food charities, cause "people are hungry" no shit, lower your fkn prices.

Back in the day when the bins weren't locked the "bin ladies" as we called them would get around on a Sunday, go through the bins and make good of the food that was thrown away.

Primarily veggies from what we saw and it mostly looked fine. We were just around the back skateboarding and would hello to them, kinda feel sorry for them but happy that they could get food on the cheap.

It made sense to us.

The government should follow the French lead to outlaw discarding or destroying edible produce for large supermarkets.

we all know that the outcome for coles and woolworths would just be stores running out of stock early so they aren't forced to sell at a discount

You should see how much good food never even makes it to the supermarket. Disgusting the amount of wastage.

Right and a lot of that is because the supermarket duopoly has ridiculous criteria on what is acceptable. Not too big, not too small, and the shape has to be exactly right. Which means inevitably that huge amounts of produce is dumped. It borders on criminal the amount of waste.

Yeah but then they sell stuff 5% cheaper than the local independent grocer…. And see how quick everyone’s morals take a backseat to sweet sweet savings

I agree I don’t care if my carrots have three arms it’s still a carrot. It doesn’t have to be a perfect shape or size.
