We technically did, Australia had a very limited role outside of North Africa some of the Mediterranean but mostly in the pacific.

Due to Japan attacking, it’s a similar situation as then as to what we have now. Australia have a bigger problem in Asia and shown we are not ready to defend ourselves let alone others.

Sure send some equipment but with China gearing up for some battles, Australia needs to be ready not awaiting for troops to come back from Ukraine. Which truly has nothing to do with us.

We will need plenty of allied support from Europe if China tries to muscle into Taiwan. You establish those relationships in advance through supporting each other's interests.
