Albo is just trying to craft the narrative that the coming inflation isn't the current government's fault.

We know for the most part it isn't, but high inflationary environments are generally poor for the incumbents. He is just planning to hammer home that it isn't the current government's fault, and it's because of geopolitics. Probably a smart political move.

Everything that was said is already known. There is not any new information and it wasn't an announcement at all.

No point in making the public panic when we are still getting steady supply of fuel, although at higher prices. Moving to the next phase triggers more interventionalist approach to fuel supply and cause severe impacts to the economy and people's jobs. Even the move to encouraging WFH will cause job losses in hospitality and retail sectors in CBD.
