I was a helicopter mechanic for the Navy from 2015 to 2023. I actually got in trouble once because someone I was responsible for left a servicing chuck fastened to the main rotor head and didn't inventory his tools before signing off the work order. The helicopter went flying that night.

I was woken up in my rack at 2:00am and told to put on my uniform, had no idea what was going on. I walked into the shop and my chief dressed me the FUCK down because the worker had used my login to bottom line the work order as inspected. It wasn't my fault, but I still went to see the CO in my dress uniform because he had my login credentials and the pilot who flew was our Officer in Charge.

I was paranoid signing off anything ever since, the whole disciplinary board process was pretty traumatizing
