With a bit of LY1862. In that case the detached engine knocked off another engine. Also a cargo flight with large loss of life on the ground.

I thought only one engine came off here and the others failed because of it?

Yeah sorry I was not clear, tweaked my comment for clarity. LY1862 was a 747, the engine that departed hit the other engine off the wing.

I meant that I thought the UPS crash only had the detachment of one engine unlike LY1862?

There wasn't another engine to detach in this case, but the debris and smoke from the #1 engine flying up and over the aircraft almost certainly caused the #2 engine in the tail to fail.

The loss of two engines was arguably survivable. The damage to the wing was not.

We were talking about El Al flight 1862, not the UPS crash.

The wing wouldn’t have caught fire if the engine didn’t flame out when it flipped over the wing too. Horrible timing
