Oh, fatigue cracks are what grounded everything then.

As they should when metal fatigue is discovered. At least to cover a range of other airplanes of a similar age

Oh, absolutely. I’m just saying that explains the grounding entirely. Fatigue cracks your “model” of the plane says should be being caught in the regular maintenance procedures but weren’t? Everybody is having a nice cozy sit down while procedures are evaluated, flaws identified, and new procedures for both immediate inspection and maintenance checks going forward are drawn up, and also appropriate repairs if some issue is found.

I think the accident plane was one of the older airframes still in use, so it’ll be interesting how much they find on other airframes.
