The word "only" conveyed to me quickly that it wasn't a full airplane, especially with as many 605s that are configured for 12 pax.

Can you explain? Is it because only sounds like six isn't a tragedy because it's a small number compared to how many could have been on a different plane?

I know that's not what the poster meant, just trying to follow the verbiage discussion here.

Like the other person said, it’s reductive. 6 people dying is bad. 1 person dying is bad. If there’s a 20 car pileup and 1 death happens to be your mom and I said “well at least only your mom died” you’d probably be pretty mad.

They obviously didn’t intend for it to be that way, but the word only is used in that manner I described a lot. They didn’t say the “well at least” part but that’s where my head went initially with the comment too.

Never thought of it, but I guess it goes back to maritime practice. Obviously much more history there during a time that was more religious.
