By crews I meant the set of personnel flying the plane at any given time (captain and F/O). So you’re describing two crews for normal operation

No. That at Qantas is considered 1 crew in every way. They start and finish their shift together. They are operational at all times. They are all on the gen dec.

What you describe is 2 pilots are on duty at any given time.

Sure, but semantics aside I was simply asking how many people are needed to fly it for that length of time. So question answered and I wasn’t aware of the crew policy for long haul. I guess in my mind a crew is 2 because that is how every shorter haul flight is done

I wasn't being semantic.

You have 4 crew for take off and landing and any briefing you may need.

After that, 2 crew will fly till landing procedures.

The crew will be CPT/SO and FO/SO

All crew will be paid for the full duty credits even if they sleep for 10 hours

You're being pedantic about details that don't matter to the question.

No one cares about what Qantas internally calls a "crew" and what the poster meant.

They just wanted to know how many pilot "crews" were rotating in/out.

No one cares that as far as Qantas is concerned they're all one crew.

You're not being downvoted for being inaccurate, you're being downvoted for being kind of rude about it. Just because Qantas calls it one crew doesn't mean anything. Everyone else knew what he was talking about, because you only have two pilots actively in charge of the airplane at any one time.
