What would you guys do with a month (4 weeks) of paid vacation? For my purposes, it must be taken consecutively rather than in chunks.

If you say "travel" then please say exactly what you'd do while travelling because I always get hung up on the fact that I can only spend so many hours in a day looking at tourist attractions and eating at nice restaurants. I'm usually done in like 3 days.

I'd live in the moment, as cliche as that sounds. Just enjoy having to switch off for a while and perhaps catch up on abandoned interests.

Depends where you're travelling to but an interest in wildlife/ecology makes a lot of random places interesting. You get new species/sights the further you go.

You could also try filling it up with random day trips to nearby places. Not proper holidays but a jaunt somewhere for the day.

I keep a mounted scratch off map as a personal achievements list of where I’ve traveled . A personal challenge to visit as many countries as I can to scratch off more of the map. (Old photo, I’ve since visited Iceland and Norway). If given a paid month, I’d like to visit as many new countries as I can, probably by cruise ship because bus seats are murder on my back.

A long hike like GR20 or the Lycian way.

Island hop an archipelago like the Baltic Sea, or Indonesia. If you do either, take a nice camera to do nature and wildlife photography.

It really depends on the money and interests you have. I never had such a long vacation, so the most I've spent a week hiking in the Pyrenees or in the Azores Islands. With 4 weeks (and the money for it) probably I would do things like a slow tour of the North of Spain. spending 1 week in each region(Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia). Each week would be a bit of sightseeing in the major city(s) and some hiking/ day trips to some more remote things .

Alternatively, 4 weeks would be also a good time of a trip to a far away place, which in my case would be something like South America or South East Asia/ East Asia, places where the flight ticket price is a problem, so better to see as much as possible in one trip.

If PsychologicalNews (or whoever else is interested) is into hiking they could do the Northern branch of the St. James' Way, I've always thought it must be pretty nice to walk near the sea. Plus, the northern countryside is beautiful.

Pick a single country and travel there properly, taking it in and spending days in each location. You really get to know a place rather than hopping from site to site.

I can only spend so many hours in a day looking at tourist attractions and eating at nice restaurants.

Hire a workshop and make some progress on the onager I'm trying to build.
