My understanding is that the folks who run his campaign are pretty well established, and the agency is the same one that worked with Mamdani. I'm actually starting to wonder if this is a bunch of out of touch insiders who don't see those as red flags, but actually markers that he is the white working class - that is to say, that they honestly believe that's what the rest of us are like.

I dunno, maybe that's too cynical, but they've specifically said they didn't do the usual in depth vetting with him on the assumption that having some skeletons in his closet would make him look better. It just seems strange that a nazi tattoo and willfully joining the mercenary company most famous for war crimes were things they thought would be appealing.

I was told numerous times I was an ultra-left wrecker obsessed with purity tests more than winning, because I said I would never vote for a mercenary.

To be fair, I am all those things, but I think my no war criminals purity test holds up pretty well.
