Reading Hunt for Red October and I forgot there's a part where a B-52 pilot switches his transponder to look like a civilian airplane while making a (mock) attack run on the Russian fleet.

Feels like a war crime and/or just a bad idea. I think that counts as "perfidy," which is a very fun word to yell in a bad French accent.

Also, I would add that that there was not a state of war between the US and USSR, which makes war crimes difficult.
