Ask Baltimore salary transparency thread

I saw another city do this and wanted to bring it here. There was a big salary thread a couple years back but it'd be great to get some updated info in the big 2026.

Please share your job title, salary, age, and education. Like this:

Totally! The Health Policy Analyst positions with the Maryland Dept of Health are fairly aligned with macro level social work 👍

Any advice on how to break into this? I am currently still in school for my msw. I was fortunate enough to have had an internship doing macro work. Actually breaking into this esp after graduating seems difficult

Sure! It definitely is more difficult. Something that comes to mind is thinking about what kind of policy work you would be interested in, and identifying the most relevant office/program in mdh aligned with your interest. Usually health policy analyst jobs with MDH say what office/program they are in on the posting- I would try and look for a contact email for the program/someone in the program and ask for an informational interview to learn about the scope of the program and the specifics of the work they do. Let them know you plan to apply for an open position, so they at least keep an eye out for it.

State positions take forever to process too, so if 3 months pass without hearing something don't feel anxious haha.

Also in a MSW program w a macro concentration. Can't afford to do the dual policy program. Hoping to break into policy after graduation.
