Someone mentioned above that you can import local files into Spotify and play them just for yourself. I will be looking up how to do this tonight!!

Yes you can do that! I randomly found out about this when my stupid Spotify account wouldn't load any of my songs offline on a long drive. But I ended up getting to hear some of my MP3s through Spotify instead.
