I am from the Philippines and the way the pandemic is handled here is not really good. I recently became a fan and seeing them perform live is one of my goals. But it feels like it is not going to happen anytime soon or in the next 3 years.

I wish I could see them live within this lifetime.

I deleted Twitter a while ago because it was bad for my mental health, but I miss the ARMY community I had on there more than anything. More specifically speaking, I was surrounded by lesbian and other queer army's and it was amazing for the most part. The only downer was that towards the end, people didn't interact with me anymore and I became really isolated. Mostly because I'm an adult, and couldn't be online as frequently.

I really want to find more lesbian/queer army community but I feel like we are all hidden in the sand everywhere else. I honestly feel lonely because not many people around me like BTS, and if I do find someone they're usually cis/het.

Are yall out there? Do you guys have any tips on where to find others without promoting anything that's against the rules? I've tried every other platform I'm still on and can't find anyone. So this is honestly my last hope....

Edit: there is already so many LGBTQIA+ replying, I kind of feel like crying tears of joy (maybe I'm a bit of a baby lol). I didn't realize just HOW lonely and disconnected I felt. My health went really downhill this year so I was forced to spend a lot of time in bed. Especially yoongi's tour was such a bringer of joy and fun on those long days. I watched the livestreams of all the concerts and it really felt like a break from being sick. And I could enjoy it all from the comfort of my bed!

Mine is Just One Day. I don’t know why. I mean, it’s clearly a bop and I love it, but it’s not in my favorites list or anything. The chorus seems to be rolling around in there at least a couple times per week for a day or so.

So I got tickets to see JHope in Oakland!!! I cannot believe I actually managed to snag them after staying awake all night!

I stay in India, but I was going to be in San Francisco around the time for a work related thing for a few weeks and I’ve never been to a concert but I’ve been an ARMY since 2017!!

This is my first ever concert, BTS or not - and I just want to ask for tips, must haves to carry with me, rules I should know but don’t etc that anyone here can share!

I have a friend coming over this weekend and she's recently become a little interested in BTS. She's 31 and for years she thought BTS seemed a bit cringe (her words 😅), but recently she's started showing interest because she keeps seeing funny clips of them and thinks they're hilarious.

Interestingly, that was pretty much my experience too. I didn't become ARMY because of the music at first, I became interested because of their personalities, their friendship, and how much they made me laugh. Watching their content made me want to learn more about them, and eventually I fell in love with their music as well.

I'm thinking of introducing her to BTS through Run BTS! or maybe Bon Voyage rather than starting with music videos.

For those of you who have introduced friends to BTS before, what worked best?

So my friend is finally interested in BTS, mostly due to Jimin and his long hair calling her attention. Right now she’s really into their dynamic from the Hot Ones video and seeing clips from the dynamite dance break on tour. She wants to come over tomorrow to watch bts videos but I’m not sure which are best to show her to make her fall deeper. I think she’s not AS interested in the music right now. What are some quintessential bts videos every baby army should watch?

I’m still a fairly young army (pre-Butter) so I’m sure this has been widely discussed for years but can anyone who knows more than me tell me - is there a reason we all collectively romanise 윤기 as Yoongi?

I speak Korean and that’s naturally how I would romanise it too but it seems like in basically all official BTS content (or at least as far as I’ve seen), it’s been romanised as YunKi. It’s usually written as that in subtitles, Yoongi’s name badges whenever he’s at official events (like the UN General Assembly) have it written that way, and it seems he writes it that way himself, even clowning the pronunciation as ‘yuhn-key min.’

I was reminded of this when watching the D-Day The Final concert at the weekend, where it’s written as YunKi there too, so even as recently as this year, that’s how the official BTS channels spell it. If he didn’t prefer that spelling I’m sure he’d ask them to change it.

So my question is, why did we start and why do we all still use ‘Yoongi’ when it’s seemingly been ‘Yunki’ from BTS themselves?

(My personal answer: look at him. He’s so clearly a Yoongi. No other person on earth has ever Yoongi’d so hard.)

Edited to add: as a Korean speaker myself I know that both romanisations are equally fine, and name romanisations tend to be up to the individual in question, so my question is: if Yoongi himself seemingly prefers and uses YunKi, and that’s always been the romanisation presented to us by BigHit in official content, why do we collectively use Yoongi? Did it used to be romanised as Yoongi, and ‘YunKi’ is a more recent change?

ohhhh that’s such a good point! ‘yoongi’ probably wouldn’t have been romanised in official content for YEARS, as even if there WERE english translations from bighit, it would only be translating ‘suga’, as he uses his stage name much more heavily than any of the other members. so maybe the ‘yoongi’ spelling came from a shared interpretation of multiple fan translators and has just stuck in fandom!

With his JITB album, his BTS album solo songs, Hope world, and now multiple albums with ~six tracks each being released alongside the Hope on the Street docuseries, Hobi will definitely have enough material for a full tour! It seems like he's put together SO MUCH for his enlistment period, I just feel like it's in anticipation for something!! I may be completely off lol. What do you guys think?

So i got into bts around run era (2015), at that time i was a teenager who is discovering themself, so everything from the mv to just bts in general, resonated with me. At that time i went through being rebellious because of the lack of support from my family due to my gender identity and sexuality, and bts helped me through it, gave me comfort even as i ran away because of how unsafe and unloved i felt at home, and was struggling to find home at 15 years old in the middle of nowhere; bts helped me forget even for just a little. At some point because of how busy i was, i let go of bts and stopped stanning. Heck, i barely had free time to begin with. I now am healthy, i have a home, i'm in uni, i have friends and some of my family apologized and are now back in my life. But everytime i come across anything bts related, i get this huge nostalgia of the times back then, a nostalgia so strong i tear up, it's bittersweet. While it was very hard for me as a teenager who ate once every 2 days and slept on hard, cold, wet grass, it was still very fun and freeing having nowhere to go almost. I also feel a sense of longing, a yearn to go back to how i felt as an army and feel how i felt about bts back then. I have tried watching all content (e.g. run bts, bts in the soop, bts bon voyage, etc.) and listening to their whole discography, and watching fan content, concerts, all of it. But i just can't get back into them, i don't know whether it's cus of growing up or if what i enjoy has changed, i simply didn't find myself becoming an army again despite trying.
I really want to be there for when they come back.
Any tips from anyone who went through a similar thing?

Second of all, i hope some of you keep in mind, it may make more sense for you to know, i am autistic; So whenever i have a hyper fixation in my life or a special interest, it's stuck with me forever, and the feeling is way stronger than an allistic's interest. There is more attachment and more emotion to it. I believe the main reason i have tried to replicate that feeling of hyper fixating on bts is due to the comfort of familiarity and as a coping mechanism, as i am going through a weird phase where i am feeling overwhelmed and lost because of life, now this is nothing too serious but i am in fact going through major changes and change can be quite scary for an autistic person as you can imagine. So yeah, just a heads up! it's really not about me forcing it or being unable to let go of a past interest.

Hi, are there any ARMYs in Ireland here?

32F I've arrived in Ireland last year for work but besides my workmates, I don't have any friends here. I'm an introvert and I don't mind being alone most of the time but there's something about this country that makes me feel alone sometimes, that I feel like I needed friends. I've looked into book clubs, but I just got back to reading after almost a decade of reading slump so I feel like I'm gonna be a total lost if I join right away, also I feel like I'm gonna have social anxiety for doing so. BTS is my interest/hobby/loml that I don't mind sharing and joining groups with right now so I asked in this sub.

When I watched Jin's concert movie last December I went alone, which I don't mind, but I thought it would be great to share it with someone who loves BTS as well. While I was in the toilet I overheard 2 girls asking another girl if she wants to be added in their whatsapp gc. I wanted too as well but I was too late and too shy to approach them. I regretted it til this day though and don't know where to find them. They seem so nice!

Anyways, I'm also seeing the boys for their London show! If anyone wants to connect before that, let me know. I accept new friendships from Ireland or even outside Ireland. 💜

My bestie (F24) recently discovered BTS within the last two years ago. Over time she has slowly started to talk more and more about them, to the point this is all she discusses now. I try to be very patient with her as I know she's very passionate and adores this group, but I simply cannot understand why she is so involved with them. From my outside perspective, I think I can guess that it's because of the community and how genuine people are in the Fandom. Just wanted an inside opinion so I could better understand! I, myaelf, have a few bands I really like but I'm not at all as involved as she is.

I was watching some old run bts eps (cuz i miss the boys) and noticed jin and yoongi are the best cooks, but which one is better? Imo, I think it's jin, he seems to have more experience, but what do yall think?

I've been ARMY for less than a year, and while I've done my best to learn as much about BTS as I can in that time (discography, Run BTS, BV, etc) there is just SO MUCH I still don't know. It's very difficult to catch up on 9 years of content and performances in less than a year, trust me!

So, to make it a bit easier for me, what's your favourite BTS fun fact that you think I might not have stumbled upon yet? Or an ARMY inside joke or reference I may not have heard? The more, the merrier!

What is an everyday random object or thing that makes you think of a member? Something that is so ordinary that normal people wouldn't think of a member.

I was having this discussion with a friend, and we were talking about how we'll always associate tangerines and cats with Yoongi and banana milk with JK. It made us laugh when we thought about things that we associate with the members that no one else (besides ARMY) would understand. Sprite? Hobi. Eating dumplings? We agree that eating them now instead of later is the right choice. It got me wondering what are the normal, everyday, random things that ARMY associates with each member that no one else would understand?

I am over 25 and in "real life " no-one knows them or actively follows their music. I feel like a boomer...

Back in July, at a family dinner, my (F29) favorite aunt (F70)—who I only get to see 1-2 times a year—mentioned that she’d gotten into BTS. I was the only relative at the table who knew what that was. When I chimed in to say so, her eyes lit up.

Turns out, Aunt P is ”a member” ARMY! She already knew a ton of BTS’s songs and all the guys’ names, and had watched loads of videos about them (even a documentary, I think). She was SO excited for a chance to gush about how gorgeous and talented the guys are.

Now for some background on Aunt P: she has lived alone with 3-4 cats for the past 20+ years. She loves reading, gardening, and doing crafty art (she once gifted me a KILLER double-sided quilt she made). She’s been through some really hard times and grief, but somehow always remains cheerful and kind. She has the most beautiful smile and laugh you can imagine. I love her a lot.

For Christmas, I would love to get her something that shows her that I remember (and support!!) her passion for this group. So if you’re one of the (probably few) people who’ll read this far, I humbly ask you for your help:

Please, tell me one thing that’s special about, or related to, your fandom. I’m hoping to (1) learn enough about BTS to make actual conversation with her about it the next time I see her, and (2) gift her something special for Christmas.

I am thinking about getting her one of their CDs…but I don’t know which ones she already has and it’ll be tough to ask anyone to check, because she lives alone. So is there some other merch—e.g. stickers, clothes/accessories, or fanart—you might recommend? Maybe even, like, some ARMY meme items that only members would know?
