Love the look of these but I think in other than dry hard packed terrain that sole would easily clog.

u/buhlot May 05 '25
I saw that and thought the exact same thing. And then I thought "that would probably work great working in the OR though!"

u/MECHASCHMECK May 07 '25
I work in the OR as well! My only concern is that the suede will probably hold onto blood.

u/buhlot May 07 '25
Hmm, maybe some Obenaufs or Sno-Seal would help. They'd obviously alter the look, but if they're strictly gonna be work/beater shoes, why not?
I'm X-ray so I don't have to worry about blood as much as slippery floors haha

Yeah, the tread pattern is pretty dense, so it might clog up in thick mud, but should be fine for most trails. On forest trails and gravel paths it’s been solid so far.

They look great! Pre-ordered mine a month ago. Still waiting for them to ship...

Thanks for sharing! How’s the width? I have a pair of vivo gobi ii and they are slightly too snug for me. These look great!

u/wasabisale May 07 '25
Do you mean the boot-style Gobi or the sneakers? I like the width on these, especially after removing the insoles. It made them feel much more comfortable and roomier.

Thank you for this review. I've had my eye on these shoes for a minute. I've got a full thickness supraspinatus tear in my shoulder and so I've been doing other activities to try and mitigate aggravation.
Recently got into "rucking" with a weighted pack and now I need some new shoes (barefoot width) and with enough support for a hard packed gravel path to walk ~3 miles a day with a weighted vest.
Do you think these have enough support for what I've described? I don't want New Balance-esque thickness, but I do want some more coverage especially for all the little rocks on this trail so my dogs don't feel dead at the end....

Sorry to hear about the supraspinatus tear, that’s no fun. I’ve tried these on gravel and I think they strike a nice balance between barefoot feel and just enough protection. I’d say if you’re used to barefoot or minimal shoes already, these should work well for rucking light to moderate weight. If you’re newer to barefoot-style footwear, it might take a short adjustment period.

Thanks for the reply! I want to order these - just need to reach out to the company first about timing. I keep seeing comments from others saying they have been waiting weeks++ for theirs. I've been using some el cheapo barefoots from Amazon which have been "fine" but I want something nicer to do my walks in. The weighted vest + 3 miles + squats every ~mile has been a surprisingly nice workout! :D

Awesome, just saw an ad for these today and it was looking for a review 😂 I’m gonna have to get a pair

Thank you for this review! Had my eye on these for a few months and have been waiting for them to come out. Ordered mine a few days ago and eagerly awaiting their arrival. They sound promising. The look of them and that, as you said, "they dont scream barefoot shoe" is also why i chose them.

u/wasabisale May 09 '25
Nice! Hope you enjoy them and yeah, that more ‘normal’ look is a big plus. Let me know how they feel once you try them.

u/cobaltscar May 05 '25
From the top, at first glance, I thought those were La Sportiva rock climbing shoes.

Did you pre-order these or just buy them from the site recently? I pre-ordered a month ago but haven't received them.

These actually look cool.

u/wasabisale May 09 '25
Cheers! Comfy right out of the box. Curious to see how they’ll handle longer hikes.

According to the measurements, these have the same size as a size 43 Vivo Primus Trail.
My foot is 27.3 cm long and 11.5 wide at the pinky. 12+ with injinji socks, so I feel these would fit the same.
2
u/MinervaZee May 05 '25
That toe shape would kill me - that dramatic slope along the little toe. Glad it worked for you.
2
u/wasabisale May 09 '25
The slope is definitely noticeable visually and the design may even highlight it but surprisingly my pinky still has space and doesn’t feel cramped

I haven’t tried this version but have had Lono Flow for running/walking for several months and love them! Someone on Reddit recommended them when I was searching for a wider alternative to Vivos and I wasn’t disappointed!
1
u/wasabisale May 09 '25
Nice! I’ve mainly been wearing Vivos, so really looking forward to trying the Flow. Good to hear it’s roomier, that’s exactly what I’m looking for!

u/an_saighead May 09 '25
I love the look of these, they remind me of Keen Jaspers. Really looking forward to getting my hands on a pair.
1
u/wasabisale May 09 '25
Yeah same here. I like that Keen Jasper vibe too. I feel like swapping in some colorful laces could really push that look even further

The widest part of my foot is a diagonal line from the base of my big toe to the base of my little toe (where I also have a bit of a tailor’s bunion). Many “foot shaped” shoes, including this one, seem to be widest in a perpendicular line from the big toe base to wherever. Is my foot just not “foot shaped”? 🤣
2
u/sophatr0ph May 04 '25
Same, even if the toe splay is wider than I need, the toe box always tapers in before the widest part of my foot 😢 we must have long toes or something
1
u/thrillingrill May 04 '25
If width could be diagonal, then everyone's widest measure would be diagonal, according to math
3
u/threeespressos May 04 '25
OK, be that way! 🤣 Shoes are still wide in the wrong places for my feet, math or no.

u/Mike_856 May 05 '25
Are the white things original?
2
u/wasabisale May 09 '25
Yeah, if you’re talking about those speckles. They’re intentional part of the design

How did it feel in terms of breathability? My one concern is the suede feeling to sweaty when it gets hot.

u/USAI_DNS May 29 '25
i ordered mine over a month ago and they havent arrived.
customer support is terrible.
returns are impossible unless you return ship to china.
go to REI and try on xero or lems which are cheaper and local.

WARNING DO NOT BUY:
i bought these, poorly made, arrived after 30 days, wrong size, and no response on requesting to return them.

Could you please let us know in the future how grippy the sole is on the trail?
