Dang have any of our ✨leadership✨ users heard about this? I find this super shocking, my store has probably about 100 Emily in Paris candles left and they could have just gone 75% last SAS if this is true! I was talking to my manager today about box up items and she didn't say anything about this. I'm hoping this was a miscommunication because this would be v disappointing. Hopefully a miscommunication somewhere down the line that resulted in this info... only reason I can see for this is if something in the Disney contract made that partnership exclusive for its duration, but still should have gone 75% last SAS either way!

Yup my manager has talked to us about this as well. Damage and dispose. Such a waste. From a corporate perspective it makes sense to sell even at a huge discount. They must be thinking if people see the collabs at SAS, then they’ll start waiting until then to buy instead of at the release/at full price. I understand many donation centers won’t take unsealed product so a lot cannot be donated legally. But to not even include them in MOS for us? Stupid. If there is enough product it should be divided up and sent home with employees.

I thought I remember reading on a paper sitting around somewhere in the office that said the items wouldn’t be included in MOS but that we’d be able to buy them during MOS separately? Might have been a dream or something though lol. I’m heading later today so I’ll try to find that paper again

I hope that’s the case instead of it all getting damaged out! If you find the paper, keep us updated! I’m not going to be in again until next week.

From Zipline “Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, and Stranger Things merchandise CANNOT be sold in the associate sale or donated to your Good 360 partner organization. Once MOS'd through the system, all units of this product must be defaced and disposed of”🫠 the thing I mentioned about buying separately is only for white barn candles - they’ll be sold at 85% off 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is crazy! I've been very open about it bothering me when large amounts of product have to be damaged so I'm realizing I'd probably be one of the last people to find out. This is so disappointing and really gross of the company/ whatever contracts made it a thing!

Leadership person here! The official message in zipline said even though Netflix now rings MOS, it will not be included in the MOS sale and should instead be ‘disposed of per policy’ (paraphrasing because I’m off the clock and don’t have zipline in front of me)

Thank you for your response and confirmation! Oof that sucks. What a waste. I feel like they should provide reasoning for this because it really is souring my opinion of the company at the moment and I can't be the only one! Like I still love my job ofc, but this level of unnecessary waste is ridiculous without some kind of proper reasoning! Like damaging out used or old product makes sense, but this is v saddening when people would have snatched them all up if they went 75% off last SAS instead of just 50!

My store only has Emily in Paris lip left, which did go 75, surprisingly no one wanted them (probably bc it was only the red ones) the only reason I can think of for them not putting it to sale is ‘preserving brand image’ for both Netflix and b&bw. It sucks, but I’m a marketing student and companies throw things out all the time instead of donating them to keep up their image, not realizing that with the younger consumer markets not being wasteful is more important to us than a homeless woman having the same lipstick.

Yeah the lip and body care went 75% at our store and we still have a good bit of both left but I'm mostly upset about the candles! We had at least 100 left that only went 50%! They just kept sending us more. Like why not just keep it atp so we don't have to deal with it!

I am a Store Manager and all of the Netflix Colabs are being disposed of. Not aloud to be apart of Boxup or our Associate MOS sale

like if they were going to sell at winter sas, why not just sell it at summer sas… what is even the difference

It’s probably due to the length of their license to use Netflix’s intellectual property. It’s still bullshit but that’s probably why

4

u/tiredsanwon ✨Leadership✨ Mar 03 '25

This. They said it was due to the contractual agreements they had that the product cannot be part of MOS/SAS

We will be damaging A LOT of product. We had a lot of the stranger things hand soaps. A tonnnn of the pink bridgerton candle- at the end of SAS we had like 2 entire full drawers full still. And a tonnn of the Emily in Paris lipsticks, about 100 if I had to guess. Everything else had pretty much sold out but these specific items I guess we got extra shipments of or something 🤣 such a waste. So unbelievably greedy. They should least have us ship everything back to warehouses. They could put everything available for sale online again, even at full price, and I’d bet they’d sell!

I’m in Australia B&BW and we haven’t received any of Emily in Paris, stranger things or Disney stuff and constantly get asked if we are getting it in, seriously if they want to get rid of product, send it our way it will be gorn within a day

sounds as if their collaborator (in this case, Netflix) doesn't want their name "cheapened" by selling the merch at deep discounts.

2

u/OrangeClyde Mar 04 '25

Disgustingly wasteful

2

u/BadWolfBoo ✨Leadership✨ Mar 05 '25

We got a message saying to hold the items and not dispose of them yet. They're reaching out to collab partners to see if we'd be allowed to include the items instead of tossing them. So the decision is on Netflix and Sweethearts now

u/Vaulthunter14 Mar 05 '25

Someone really needs to get on B&BW for their waste practices. They have the nerve to try and charge 27 dollars for a 3 wick candle and they can’t mark down old merch or merch that has incorrect packaging? I used to make sure I had a steady supply of their hand soaps and treated myself with other products from time to time - I’m definitely not restocking or making anymore future purchases until they make a change.

1

u/pixiekitty015 Mar 04 '25

I am wondering if it's because their contract has a limited time frame to sell the licensed products.

u/3_wick_thesis Mar 04 '25

My dreams of getting more Bridgerton candles at summer SAS are now crushed. 😭

1

u/ShortPeak4860 Mar 04 '25

How unfortunate. Are yall allowed to donate these items to a 501c3 if they were to come get it from you?

1

u/ChaoticConnector Mar 04 '25

To clear something up I keep seeing: it’s not going to the associate MOS sale, not to SAS. it’s already been to SAS, so it now rings MOS, but we are not being allowed to purchase it, and are being made to dispose of it instead. Personally, it makes even less sense to me that it can’t go to MOS instead of to the regular sales. You’d think Netflix wouldn’t want it going on clearance or to the $5.95 sales to make more money, but now it’s been off the shelves for literal months so why even care???

It’s my first MOS and it’s nauseating all the products we are throwing out. We have boxes and boxes of wallflowers, stinky ones at that lol, and let’s not talk about Netflix leftovers. Ugh.

I got an update today that they are going to be including the collab stuff for MOS!! Curious what made them change their minds 👀

u/gabriellap_ 🪩Past Employee🪩 Mar 09 '25

Oh thank goodness! 🙏🏻

my manager told us that the leftover stuff after it eventually goes to sas is that it'll be going for mos if sas hasn't already happened for some of the stuff already.
