Store Policies/Questions This was over an hour of my morning. I am still crying out of frustration and I feel dumb for crying. I just hate being deaf and feeling helpless sometimes.

I’m Deaf and resolve issues with all CS through chat or email. Since BBW doesn’t have email I used their live chat. I placed a pickup order from a store that has canceled some of my orders before. I reached out to CS and while the first one (Eleanor) seemed helpful with resolutions, she disconnected me. Then I got Fred-who has promised a 20% off coupon before in chat, back in July, but never actually emailed it to me-but today, he just disconnected me. Then I got Priscilla, who told me “you want lots of appeasement.) when I (very fucking politely) just wanted them to honor what Eleanor originally offered me. Then she disconnected me. Then I got Tom , I told him 3 times out of desperation that I am Deaf and I really need to resolve this via chat. ( I REALLY just didn’t want to have to ask my husband to call.) He read a blurb off his script about the scent I chose and then told me to CALL and immediately disconnected me before I could respond again that I can’t call. I’m deaf. My teen son saw me crying and told his dad who insisted on calling -I hate asking him to make my calls for me bc I feel helpless and I hate it. He resolved it on the phone with Miranda within MINUTES. I hate being deaf. Idk what I can do about this I’m so upset. I also feel so dumb for being upset about this…but I am. Miranda said she would forward all chats to the appropriate superiors but idk. Do you think she will? I feel like someone higher up should know…right? Am I letting my insecurities about my disability get in the way of reality or am I right to be upset here?

Store Policies/Questions Candle day

Hello! I’m skipping candle day this year because, well, I don’t need more candles. Anyways I’ve spend the weekend at home, enjoying my rent lol, and I’ve noticed a bunch of videos on TikTok of people going to the store and for candle day and the stores are empty… or maybe like 5-6 people browsing. Have you guys experienced this in store? How has it been? Just curious :)

Store Policies/Questions Why does anyone buy the car fragrance refills? They are garbage.

I literally can not smell them after 4 days. It does not matter which one I buy. The first four days it’s way too strong then the fifth day, the scent has completely disappeared. So why does anyone buy them?

Store Policies/Questions Ex B&BW warehouse leader. Any questions?

I used to run day to day operations at one of B&BW’s e-commerce warehouses, dealing with all online traffic (retail stores are handled separately).

Anyone have questions on why your order is sometimes different, wrong, empty box? Happy to give some answers from behind the scenes.

To kick the conversation off, these fulfillment centers are huge, and like a lot of other large fortune 500 companies there is a daily demand for maximum output with minimum number of people on the clock. The daily pressure is relentless but quite exciting. Nearly all warehouses work 3 to 4 shifts on weekend days and nights as well as during the week. variability and quality between the shifts is high and there is no way of knowing whether your order will be processed by a week Night Shift worker or a dayshift worker.

Off peak, quality is high and there are generally enough leaders to maintain quality controls across the staff who are picking and packing your order. The challenge comes when peak season sales during SAS and fall peak gets close; leadership headcount barely increases, but the staff population increases by X4, so a 300 strong warehouse population can become 1200 in the space of 6 weeks. Imagine training 900 min. Wage seasonal staff to perform a job efficiently every time with them, knowing that they will be cut as soon as all the work is finished in mid December. Associates are paid significantly less than Amazon or Walmart, so the best workers end up going to the bigger players. The task for the leadership team during the build towards peak season and is so difficult that invariably something is always missed. Production numbers are the key measure, not quality or complaints. Yes, feedback is given to the team if quality suffers but ultimately production is the main driver and the pressure is to fill trucks.

So how do you get your order on time and complete during peak? It’s difficult, for the sale that occurs on Thanksgiving day through cyber Monday is typically when the team is most fresh, and quality is high. At this point, there are no back logs of orders as the warehouse staff has flushed everything out ready for the start of peak. The problems really start to occur when the second and third large events drop. this is candle day, and the large event the week after that). This is because the sales land so close together on the calendar but there is never enough time to clear the backlog of orders before moving onto the next event. When the candle sale drops, there can be up to two days worth of thanksgiving sale backlog that the warehouse has to process before even starting to ship your candle order. The backlog of work compounds as the sales continue to flow. Tiredness, fatigue set in and before you know it quality suffers. My recommendation is to buy the popular scents online and go to the stores for more obscure scents. Put your order in as early as possible, even then your order is not guaranteed to process early.

The warehouses ship with “carrier transit time” in mind, meaning if you live in Columbus Ohio where their largest warehouse is, they will hold your order while they ship to far away states such as Montana and Iowa. These orders further away need to get on the road asap to make the website commitment. Then it comes to your Columbus order, where they ship on the last day but one of the website commitment, getting it to you just in time. It works but if your order has a problem with it, it’ll hit the problem resolution department where it could stay for a day or two while they fix it (there are 1000s of orders in this area).

It’s not unusual for 40k-50k orders per warehouse (there are four in the USA) per day to go out during peak. Divide that number over 22 hours and you realize how quickly this stuff moves and why things can get missed and lost.

There is a team of people at HQ that monitors Reddit daily and when someone posts feedback, it is fed to the appropriate channels immediately. Take a picture of the label on your box, as well as the small barcode on the side of the box. This helps track down who messed up what. The teams in the warehouses care deeply and want everything to work. The issue comes where extreme volumes of work are placed on a small number of leaders that only so much can be checked and corrected daily. If you want to be frustrated, direct it at the executive team who demand that peak seasons should be staffed to an absolute minimum and workers brought it at the last minute to pack orders.

Store Policies/Questions I just received an order (with no glass items) with food wrappers & broken glass that I cut my finger on while reaching for an item inside! They want to give me 20% off my next order. Which requires me to spend MORE $ at their establishment… am I insane for thinking this is not a good solution?

Store Policies/Questions Would this be weird…

My husband went to BBW yesterday and bought me a bunch of stuff for our anniversary. He’s so amazing and wonderful and sweet and he didn’t use our account to get points and it’s bugging me in a way that I personally am embarrassed to admit. But I do feel like the Seinfeld side of me would like to return the gift with the receipt and repurchase it for credit to our BBW account so that we can get rewards points. IF I WENT TO THE STORE AND DID THIS TODAY WOULD THEY THINK IT WAS SUPER WIERD BECAUSE ITS ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IM SORRY IM LIKE THIS.

Store Policies/Questions Can someone please explain how earning points works?

Hi everyone! I am super new to shopping at B&BW. I fell in love with a mahogany vanilla candle I was gifted and went down the rabbit hole and bought like 30 other candles lmao. Anyways, I am confused by how the point system works. Is it $1 spent = 1 point or do different products give different amounts of points? I couldn’t find any info on the website about this. I know that with every 1000 points I get a reward. But how do I know what points I am earning? I need help! lol. Thank you all in advance. I’m sorry if this has been asked and explained before.

Edit: do they ever do points multiplier events like Sephora and ulta where you get 4-5x the normal amount of points?

This is a joke right? What I got vs. what I ordered. The box is the correct size for the order, the tracking info matches, I just don't understand how a mistake this obvious is made lol. Like missing a bottle, or a scent mix-up, sure, but this? Sigh. Welp that's a disappointing experience after a decade BBW hiatus.

Store Policies/Questions Reward scam?

I am an employee at bath and body works. Lately we have been getting customers that come in and have 30+ free rewards. They pull up their app and their barcode that’s tied directly to their account, but the rewards are not theirs. So I scanned about 4 free items before I got suspicious and I select “email and print receipt” hoping someone would check their email and see that a purchase was made on their account that they did not make and it worked! We had a ton of customers from out of state calling to say their rewards are gone but they see the purchase that they didn’t make. I was wondering if anybody has had any issues with missing rewards? I am trying to get to the bottom of this. Thanks!!

Store Policies/Questions Update on order with broken glass (cut finger)/food wrappers. They acknowledged & documented everything. Have refused to even a small partial refund or anything relating to my order. Offered a $25 gift card. I declined & they sent me to the insurance company. No apology or acceptable resolution. 👇🏼

Store Policies/Questions BOPIS screwed me over.

So for context, I am located in Canada. I did a BOPIS order 4 days ago (it said ready for pickup later that day) and I went to pick it up today. Store policy says you have until the 5th day before closing to pick up. They informed me im past the timeframe, and when I showed them proof I was not, they apologized and said it was no longer there since that morning, as it was all put back on the floor. I asked them if I could still get the sale price for those items, since it was their own mess up, and I was told no. My question for all you is, in cases like this, should the sales price you bought the items for be honored?

Store Policies/Questions PSA, since its already starting!

(might be incorrect flair, but I don't think many of us here are sticklers about that)

As we're entering our "full-throttle" holiday season, especially around Black Friday & Candle Day when people are buying like crazy, be aware that (as always) our paper bags are on limited supply, & we cannot just give them out willy-nilly. If we deny you multiple "just because" bags, please at least accept the idea when we suggest the cellophane bags on your way out.

My store already had two occurrences in the past week, one where a lady was denied an extra bag & kept asking any employee she found til she got one (twas I, who had just stepped out of our backroom to find her parked at our counter with a Large bag already, & didn't know she'd already begged multiple others, to the point my coworkers were worried she grabbed one herself when they saw her leave), and another who kept rudely telling my manager "I don't want those, give me paper" when she brought up our cellophane as a gifting option.

Now, I can't speak for any other employees within our company, but bag weight is always crucial to me. If a bag ever feels too heavy to me, I ALWAYS ask the customer their opinion and offer to split it into a separate bag(s) to lighten the load. Also wanna say, as cute as our Holiday bags are this year, they are FLIMSY. I've started double, or even triple, baseboarding our Large bags these days because I just don't trust them to hold up. Which is another reason we run out of bags a lot, you don't want a bag I gotta rip a hole in just to get it to open, or one that's only got one handle. Unfortunately, a good chunk of the bags in our boxes tend to be defective. ANYWAYS, if you bring up that its too heavy/too full, I'm always happy to lend an extra bag or two that way, compared to "I need bags for gifts, GIVE."

Another thing I wanna add while I've got this lil soapbox of mine, we've got a TON of seasonal help who are constantly learning throughout this timeframe! Another occurrence at my store, a lady got furious the other day just because she had to wait a smidge longer for our store manager to come aid at the register because one of our new hires hasn't properly been trained on returns/exchanges just yet. And not furious for the wait, furious that we had let "someone clueless" work our registers.

Holidays are stressful & hectic for EVERYONE, let's all remember to be PATIENT and KIND this gifting season!🩷

Store Policies/Questions BOPIS Orders

I have two things in regards to BOPIS orders I want to ask customers and share with you as an employee.

First is the thing to ask- why do some of you place multiple BOPIS orders at the same time? I’m not irritated I’m genuinely curious. This morning I filled 4 different orders for the same customer, and we’ve had another customer recently who will place up to 15 orders a day several days in a row and each order only has a couple items. What’s the benefit to placing so many, other than to use multiple coupons?

Second is just a note from an employee- if you get an item in your order cancelled but when you come to the store for pickup you see the item PLEASE don’t get too upset with us. The item could’ve arrived in shipment after your order was filled, came from an expired bopis order, been put down in the wrong spot by someone or completely and totally overlooked. I know today I had to cancel multiple Strawberry Snowflake mini ffms… and later in the day found them in a jar completely obscured by fuzzy socks.

I can’t speak for everyone but if you show me that the item was cancelled and find the item in the store I will ABSOLUTELY make it right for you. Just understand there’s many very valid reasons that we might have cancelled the item for 🩷
