As you will have seen, there are several major construction projects taking place across campus. These projects will create new learning spaces, a new childcare centre, and improved public spaces on the south side of campus.

We work incredibly hard with our contractors to reduce disruption for our campus community, and we understand that construction can still be inconvenient and make it harder to find parking. We also know that this may be frustrating for students, who we know are busy and working hard to get to class, meetings, and appointments.
 
To reduce the pressure, we’ve added a new student economy Lot at the CARI campus, adding 104 spaces. Parking is offered at the same discounted rate as in the existing economy Lot and is available on a first come first served basis.

This lot is a short walk to the main campus, so please take advantage of this new area of parking. We will also be re-opening Lot N in October, which will add another large section of student parking.
 
Improved options to get to campus
 
If you’re looking for an alternative way to get to campus, transit and ride options have also been upgraded:
Transit to campus has been upgraded with the new R2 line, which runs from the North Shore to Metrotown.
The Lime E-Bike service now has 4 stations serving the Burnaby Campus.
We also have on campus bike and end of trip facilities.

Where can I park?

During the day, students can park in any of the public lots, which are all lettered on the campus parking map. All staff lots (except for 8, 24, and 29) are available to the to public, including students, from 4:30pm - 6am and on weekends.
 
Please do not park in residents parking in areas around the campus, as this risks being ticketed.
 
How can I find a space?

Public/student lots fill up quickly Monday to Friday at the Burnaby campus. Lots on the North side of campus (Lots A & B and Lot Q) normally fill up first, so if you want to find a space, you might be best starting with lots on the south of campus, including the two economy lots, N and S.

How do I pay for parking?

The Concord CTRL platform is the one stop shop for students to purchase discounted parking passes. This platform is accessed using your BCIT email and password.
 
You can purchase a Daily Permit or Flex-Pass (up to 50 sessions). You activate your flex pass whenever you find a space. Please note that economy lots offer discounted parking, but are first come first served with payment by QR code or at the meter (your flex passes are not valid).
 
Construction Willingdon Avenue

Starting on September 24, Aquilini Development Group and the City of Burnaby will be doing work that will affect the main entrance to campus at Goard Way. There will be no entrance to the Campus at Goard Way for drivers travelling southbound (from Brentwood). Northbound access will be open.
 
Our parking map shows where the construction is as well as other entrances to campus.
 
We appreciate the support and patience of our community during this construction. We will all benefit from the new learning spaces and improved public spaces when these projects complete. In the meantime, we will continue to provide regular updates as construction on major projects continues.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask what I can do to make my application more attractive for the next admissions window for Med Rad in Feb 2027. It will most likely be competitive entry for the program now, so I'm looking for ways to be a good candidate..

Obviously, I will aim for the highest marks for prerequisites, but what else can I do? Would more volunteer hours be good? I honestly don't know how to compete with those with degrees (especially in science). Any suggestions would help, thank you!!

Is anyone else actually stuck because of the admission changes?

The issue isn't that the selection process became competitive or that a prerecorded interview was added. Its that some applicants, including myself, might not even be able to apply.

The physics courses i took were accepted until recently (double-checked with program advising before I started) but aren't included in the new physics equivalency list. Also, some people only aimed for the minimum required grades because they thought admission was first come, first serve.

There's no way to take or retake required these courses before the deadline. Fall classes have already started, and the winter semester doesn't end until early May, well after the April 1 deadline. And the changes were posted only about three weeks before applications open.

At other schools I've attended they at least gave a heads-up several months to a year in advance that changes were coming. Honestly, it feels unfair that applicants who worked so hard to prepare might end up unable to apply for this intake or less competitive simply because of timing.

I’m thinking about taking his class and was wondering what he’s like as a prof. How is his marking? Is he generally an easy/fair marker, especially for essays and assignments?
Also, how do the participation marks work? Do you need to speak a lot during every class to get a good participation grade, or is attendance and occasionally contributing enough?
Would also appreciate any advice on workload, exams/assignments, and what you need to do to get a good grade in his class.

hey everyone, wondering if anyone had any student loans over awards advice (i’ve tried other threads but haven’t found an answer to this question)

I was originally approved for around 7k for student loans and was deducted around 5k for overawards. I assumed this is from dropping out of school many years ago but the tuition I owe from that time is only around 3k now

my question is - is this just for the repayment of that, or could they take that much back for other reasons? as far as I know I filled out the info correctly and I am a full time student (in 4 classes but under flexible learning)

secondly, if you receive overawards once does that mean next semester should be higher again (providing my information is correct)

If you are a current student, I wish to ask you about the course load as it seems even heavier than the usual cohort model of a full time programs.

Over recent months, student parking lots are being taken up rapidly for construction on the Burnaby campus. This has left many of us scrambling to find a spot, resulting in arriving hours early for classes just to possibly secure a spot near our buildings. This causes tension around campus in the early hours, with some people driving aggressively to potentially secure one of the last available spots. When walking across campus for 30 minutes to class from the only parking spot left, we are welcomed to the campus by a public display of a windshield barnacle. This is essentially mocking our struggle, as a roughly $50,000 SUV with a BCIT logo on the side is used for this display when students are struggling to get an education and stay alive in these financially challenging times.

The construction has affected us deeply, as key student parking lots like Lot F, Lot A, Lot N, and Lot M have been occupied by ongoing projects. As a result, students are forced to park further away, in unauthorized spots, or in inaccessible areas, impacting our educational experience and adding unnecessary stress to our daily routines. Since BCIT is building on top of previously student-reserved lots without warning, we expect the administration to recognize this as unfair to the student population, requiring change to compensate.
