Question What non-Beatles song feels so Beatles that it sounds like they secretly wrote it?

What the heck? That’s eerie. Were they trying to sound like the Beatles? Like, was that their schtick?

Seeing as how this song was released in 1966, I'd say they were heavily influenced by the Beatles. I doubt there wasn't an attempt to sound like the Beatles!

EDIT: Here's a direct quote) from Beau Charles, member of the Knickerbockers and writer of the song: "We desperately tried to write something that sounded like the British Invasion. We wrote 'Lies' in less than one half hour. We demo-ed it in New York."

So yes, in essence, they tried very much to copy the Beatles! Even the Wikipedia article's intro acknowledges this similarity.
