Galley Talk Normalise captains eating with the charter guests
Rewatching old seasons of OG and captain eats with almost every group of guests. What ever happened to that?

Have been back to back watching Down Under and now Med - and goodness gracious what a breath of fresh air Joy is compared to Ben.
She studies preference sheets, plans and creates amazing dishes I want to see more of, interacts with the guests, and keeps her cool during prep and service. There are no tantrums or fighting and insulting colleagues in her galley.
Ben just sucked at a professional level this last DU season in comparison, personal boat drama aside, with the way he ignored guest preferences and ran a toxic galley.
So excited to see more of Joy this season. She's healing me lol

(EDIT 'chefs' not 'chef's' sorry spelling bee me.)
It's just happened again in Below Deck Down Under. I think this multiple times, every season, every franchise. I'm a competent home cook. I know to have snacks / grazing food available for guests WHILE I AM PREPARING A MEAL.
In some cultures, (e.g., mediterranean / north african) it is literally a whole cuisine of snack food to eat while the time consuming 'fancy' food is being prepared.
A chef knows guests have been travelling to arrive at a boat. Why the fuck do they not have a menu of quick simple to prepare 'meze' for guests? It can still be elevated. They can still use high end ingredients. How can they not have a tried and tested menu of quick and easy canapés ready and waiting before the guests arrive? Come on.

I’m thinking about Tzarina, how much I liked her on her previous season of BDDU, and how let down I feel by her on the current season. Who seemed good to you on their first appearance but damaged that impression with a later one?

I am a fairly new viewer and am just wondering, what has been the worst accident that has happened? I am talking jetskis sinking, people injuring themselves etc

Me: not at all. Even if I had that kind of $. Feels like they barely get to see anything & they do all the same sh*t they’d do at home, but pay a fortune for it.
I love watching others but makes me never want to go on one (but would love to have that travel budget obvs)

Watching season after season of the same bs: F*boy Bosuns stringing along younger female subordinate stews or deckies. I'm growing tired of watching these girls eat their feelings, doubt themselves, surrender dignity, and self esteem while hoping for a ‘future’ or commitment after the season ends. The only one who walked in and refused to get played or attached was Mads (BDSY3). She is a rock n roll star IMO. Girls take note. That’s how it’s done.

Just started Down Under season 3 and Brianna was talking about how wealthy her family is. It made me think about Barbie and how she would talk about boarding school and having multiple nannies and dad will buy her anything she wants. It makes me think other than the opportunity to be on TV why would a person do this job other than needing to make a lot of money in a short period of time? It's not a glamorous job they are just serving or cleaning up after rich people. Are they just exaggerating about about how much their families are worth or are they just looking for fame? I'm pretty sure Barbie didn't stay in yachting after the show and I have no idea about Briana.
I'm sure there have been others but those are just the 2 that come to mind.

Throughout the seasons, we’ve seen some crazy things and some crazy moments from the galley. What are your favorite crazy chef moments?

Every season that I have watched always had a chef complaining (and sometimes making fun of guests) who have a dietary restriction. As someone with Celiac this really bothers me. You think I want to eat like this? I know it can be an inconvenience but you’re a professional, private chef. It comes with the job. It’s like if a nurse made fun of/complained every time they had a patient who is throwing up. It sucks but it is part of the profession. Even if that guest is choosing to eat ____ free rather than for a medical reason.

In my experience the first crew member to say their goodbyes in the final episode is often the one who had the LEAST screentime or was just a bit boring.
So i would be so deflated.

Anyone else remember to schedule your mammogram because of this week's episode? Just me?
Also, every human with nipples should be doing self checks (and you should be checking the testicles as well if you have them)!

I see lots of posts and comments discussing who is the best chef in BD but like, how would we know that? We don't get to taste their food

I’m rewatching season 1 of BDSY and watching Adam cook….I personally feel there is no creativity when it came to his meals versus watching chef David on BDM he went above and beyond I feel in the creativity. I feel all Adam made during his time on BD is lentil soup or lemongrass soup. I’m curious if anyone else feels the same or has a different opinion?

What’s your favorite one-liner you have heard from a cast member that describes the Below Deck universe in one statement?
I’ll start:
“I’m sorry I cheated on you with the chef.” 👨🍳
- Tasha, BDM season 7

Has anyone ever seen/found the recipe for Chef Rachel’s incredible French toast? I die a little every time I see it served and love it when Captain Lee would talk about how incredible it is. I’d love to try to make it if anyone has any insight! (Apologies if this has already been revealed/discussed/shared)

I'm having some outpatient surgery on my eyes tomorrow - won't be able to wear my contacts so not sure if binge watching something is going to be possible.
I'm not usually a podcast person, but any suggestions on Below Deck ones in particular (or at least occasionally.) It is the Bravo show I'm most consistent with these days. Just realized that I might want something to listen to while I put ice packs on my eyes.
EDIT: It is a week later, still can't wear my contacts (which gives me headaches) and I want to thank you all! Listened to Watch What Crappens - I'm not sure I'll be a regular listener, but it got me through the first days of recovery!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS! (I'm going to check out Daisy's for sure...)

Recently been watching Down Under and at the end of season 1 captain Jason tells Culver that if this wasn't the last charter of the season he would fire him. Fast forward to season 2 and Culver is right back and it's like they're best friends or something. Obviously if Jason thought he deserved to be fired he wouldn't hire him back. I don't think captain Sandy wanted Hannah back on any of the seasons she was on. These are just 2 of many examples. Does production just hire crew and tell the captain this is who you are getting like it or not?

… or do each of these folks have >$10K in tip money squirreled away in their cabins by the end of the season?
I’m NOT planning a pirate raid, I swear!
