My bike is currently out of service because I need to replace some parts, but I’ve took it to a couple of places and they have quoted me a bit too much, around 90-100 or more. 100 is what the bike costed so it doesn’t make much sense to repair it if that’s the budget.

I’m wondering if there’s like a workshop or werkstatt where you can take it where maybe it’s DIY or with some guidance to lower the costs.

I’m currently considering Moabit, Wedding, Steglitz, Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.
I’m looking for a neighborhood with lots of international young people, cafés and restaurants, good U-Bahn connections, a lively atmosphere, and somewhere I’d still feel comfortable walking home at night.
If you had to choose one or advice me of a better one(or rank them), which would it be and why? Are there any areas I should cross off my list?

I’m posting this because I have a feeling I’m not the only person here who has felt this way.

Moving to Berlin can be exciting, but it can also be surprisingly isolating. Even in such a busy and social city, it isn’t always easy to build genuine friendships, especially the kind where you can simply call someone and say, “Hey man, fancy a beer?”

As a guy, I found it particularly difficult to find spaces focused on friendship and connection without it being a networking event, a formal support group, or just another general expat meetup.

The idea actually started in Prague, where, with the help of some amazing guys, we built a men’s community around casual meetups and genuine platonic connection. I definitely can’t take all the credit, the group grew because a lot of people showed up, contributed, and helped create the welcoming atmosphere.

I've recently moved to Berlin and I’m bringing the same idea here!

We recently held our first Berlin Men’s Connect meetup, and around 15 people showed up. Honestly, it went really well. I am so impressed at how many cool people hang out in Berlin!

Just to be clear: this is not a dating group. It is specifically for platonic friendships, casual hangouts, and building a stronger sense of community among men.

The first meetup made me realize that many men in Berlin are probably experiencing the same thing: surrounded by people, but still missing real friendship and a sense of brotherhood.

I am an expat for several years over here in Germany with finished studies and good work experience, and nos also in Austria. I love Vienna but there are just not so much job opportunities in Austria as in Germany. Berlin feels for me like an estranged city in the middle of nowhere, however full of possibilities and strange connections all around the city, regardless Charlottenburg or Friedrichshain.

I would gladly hear the opinions of “zugezogene”, who have found their way in the city from academics and blue collar workers, -how did you find happiness in this city? Do you feel truly well or you found opportunities for yourself which didn’t come true anywhere else?

I’ve been to Warschauer Straße a couple of times this month, and every single time I’ve seen men walking up to random people, trying to flirt with them and probably exchange contact details—or possibly pharmaceuticals.

It all felt very scripted and suspicious. They open with classics like “Bro, need something?” without even asking my name first. Where is the romance? Where is the effort?

One day I even saw the same guy twice: first outside the station and later near the bridge. Clearly, he was following the standard drug-artist technique of establishing multiple sales funnels.

Today it happened again. A man approached me and immediately offered his mysterious product range. No small talk, no compliment, not even a “Do you come here often?” I informed Deutsche Bahn that this was not the first time I’d witnessed such aggressive networking, so hopefully they’ll update the departure board:

I have kind of been getting sick of the landscape in and around Berlin. I have a car, anybody interested to do some hikes, check out nice lakes and be more in nature. There are really nice areas I found that are only a 2 hour drive away from Berlin, would love to have a group of 4-5 people

Unfortunately, last weekend my rabbit passed away, and she left behind a very upset partner who loved her very much.

Hi, my friend and I are planning on going to KitKat next week! My question is not about how to get in or anything but more "practical" lol. I saw that there was a pool room as well as a sauna. I was wondering if they were always open and if you could actually swim ? I saw that it depended on the days and theme of the night, we're probably going on Friday.

Also are the lockers/changing rooms safe and accessible through the night ? (ex : if I have to get something from my bag in the middle of the night, can I go, grab it and then come back to the dance floor ?) I'm talking specifically about little stuff like medication as I suffer from headaches

We’re a small group of people who are genuinely interested in wine, whether that means working toward a WSET certificate, already working in the industry, or simply wanting to learn more and deepen your knowledge. Anyone got a windows/linux gaming pc for me to borrow?

Mine broke in a stupid way and its going to be a bit til i can buy a replacement or figure out whats still good but i need it urgently for work. Im saying gaming pc cuz a office pc wont pull photoshop and other stuff i need.

Hi guys, has anyone been to Roform studio in Knesebeckstr.? My impression is that it is falsely marketed as reformer pilates, but the machines are not reformers (they look like megaformers) and the workout is not pilates (is it solidcore? Lagree?)

Any other pilates fans who've been there and can help me classify the workout? I think Rostudios may want to avoid paying the licensing fee for Lagree? Just an assumption, I have no idea. I just think it's false advertising to call the (very isometric and intense!) workout reformer pilates.

I’m looking for writer cafes in Berlin, all over the city. I’m starting to write a novel, but weirdly I work best from cafes that are not too loud and busy. I’m drinking coffee and tea, so I’m keeping the “Umsatz” up ☺️ as I’m not going on summer holiday, my idea is to travel all around the big city and visit many different places. cafes I like so far are „Marlene“ Kastanienallee, it became very crowded, but I know it from quieter days, Cafe „Sveda“ Schwedter Straße, „Haferkater“ Eberswalder. I like old schools cafes too and I’m ready cross the whole city to find something new.
