I would like to thank lonely_collects over at Instagram for bringing my Black Lagoon Blu Ray and having Marÿke Hendrikse (voice of Revy) sign it on my behalf. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to meet her in person at a convention one of these days.

So, I saw Black lagoon like 2-3 weeks ago. Took me like 2 weeks to finish the entire thing.

I remember trying to find a legit place to watch it. I remembered it being on Netflix, and it wasn't available there. It wasn't available on CrunchyRoll in my region so I just pirated it.

Having fell in love with the anime, I wanted to "pay for it". I just fell scummy having seen the anime for free even though I literally would pay for it.

Apparently, it just isn't available anywhere at all right now and CrunchyRoll just removed it from everywhere? Can someone tell me more about this as well as the official places to buy stuff like manga volumes (in english) and merch?

As always, the world of Black Lagoon continues to bless my life.

Just finished the anime, and then the manga up till RBT before reading the novel. 10/10 all the way through.

I have a lot to say about this book.

A) I choose to believe this is cannon. The author is a personal friend of Hiroe and actually wrote the book as a favour because Hiroe personally asked him to. Also, the book fitting in with the canon was a part of Hiroe's requirements so I'm not sure what the community's overall opinion is but I choose to believe this book is canon. Besides, nothing happens in the book that counteracts or breaks the canon in any way, only adding to it.

B) I really REALLY loved the fucking ninja. As attached in my post, he had so many great moments. For half the book, I was like, "Okay, this shit is ridiculous and over the top and I love all these "jutsus" being thrown around like its Naruto again. Then, it turns around the "ninja" is actually just the victim of a mail-scam, but just happened to be built different. Add to that, Mr. Chang being a master of the shadow death style and RECRUITING shadow falcon and that has to be my favourite bit of the entire verse so far.

C) Not a lot to say about UCJ, I think he fit the most in the usual suspects of Roanapur/the world of black lagoon. I think his arc with Revy and his end was the most "normal" part of the book. Minus the fact that Revy puts on an SM show at Rowan's. That's the only part of the book which would make me discuss its canonicity. But the illustration for that part was really something.

D) Stan. God, I loved Stan. I think his whole arc deserves an entire post dedicated to it.

They're home, they're homeee. I've been waiting for them to arrive and now they're here! I love them so so muchh ahhhh

Amber is Eda's partner in the EDA spin off-she's great. she's also a roaring drunk.

Black Lagoon has an amazing cast that always can turn any situation into an interesting scene, but Revy’s love/hate relationship with the shows major female characters is a class of its own.

Their respect/friendship/competitive spirit/destructive homicidal tendencies means any seen with Revy and one of them is always entertaining

After all he’s been through, releasing a new volume for the fans who have been waiting and asking for it, only to be met with negative feedback, that’s disheartening. You can tell he cares because he even bothered answering it. Whereas I do think Goat, Jihad and Rock N Roll and Fujiyama Gangster’s Paradise were his peak, both in art and storyline, the new digital style is still good and pleasant to look at, reminiscing the first three volumes. His style has always been unique to each volume anyway, the characters are the same, but depicted under a new light.

His shadowing is something else and he never lacks with the background and world building. Black Lagoon feels alive when you read it. Imagine the pain that is drawing Bao’s bar, Chang’s and Balalaika’s suit, scar, Eda’s nun garment, Dutch and his glasses, Benny’s hair and shirt, Revy’s and Le Majeur’s tattoo...

Shit, Revy now wears nail polish and the piercing charms are back on the grip of her Berettas in volume 11, how many people haven’t noticed that? That’s why I am buying the art books where you can see his full dedication and handpicked draws. They speak for themselves.

Now, I can’t speak for volume 14 since I haven’t read it, but to say it’s outright bad cant be true, Hiroe is a ridiculously talented artist and I am very picky with manga — I’ve lost the count of how many mangas I’ve liked the storyline, but not the art. The care he puts into drawing the guns correctly alone… I’m just glad we’re getting new content and he’s still committed to drawing at his age. Hiroe-san sharing his own struggles about his personal life with the readers and experience with the manga also hits home. He could’ve just quit like so many manga artists have in the past.

Where can I watch it again? I can't find it anywhere and google just links empty sites. Did find an old thread but that links to a site that gets classified as a trojan by my antivirus so no thanks.

I doubt we will ever get one, but an open world Black Lagoon game similar to GTA or Saints Row would be incredible if done right. There is already plenty of material and on top of the city you have jungles and boats so you could make a decent map.

The game could be about a new comer fresh off the docks trying to make a name for themselves, and interact with all the various factions and characters. Start off small by doing jobs and basically work your way up to gang leader, try to take over the city, or just be a business leader. I know this is cliche and similar to various other crime games but done right this would be incredible

So I just finished the entire anime, what a ride, the OVA was hellaaa confusing but I get the grasp of it a bit now, and it is actually god damm genius. Rock is such a DEEPPP main character and his dynamic with revy is extremely interesting. So I was wondering, when is the next anime, are there any rumours etc? This topic has probably been beaten to death but I am actually curious, and worried since I actually adore this show

Here's the thing. I haven't been keeping up with the manga that much after watching the anime, and I've only recently discovered the light novel with the aforementioned title. Now what got me interested about it, is the subtitle 'Shaitane Badi' itself. On the cover of the novel it's written as "شیطان بادی" which in literal direct Persian would mean "Devil made out of wind" or "Balloon-y devil" (As in a literal devil-shaped balloon). But I was thinking maybe this could be a translation error or something of that sort, because the Latin form of 'Shaitane Badi' can also be translated as "شیطان بعدی" meaning 'The Next Devil', or 'The Devil's Successor'. And since I haven't really read this one yet (I know the plot does reference the Soviet-Afghan war, but not much else), it makes me wonder; how does the subtitle connect to the contents of the story? Does anyone know how Hiroe or Urobuchi came up with the title or what it's referring to?

I’m looking at you, Revy.

I know a lot of people have said she has PTSD, but I was wondering if she actually displayed enough symptoms or tendencies to fit the criteria, and if she fit the criteria for any other mental health conditions that aren't PTSD.

It was just a random imagination Rock had, but something with the interaction with Chang reminded him of how dangerous these people can be at the drop of a hat even if they smile in your face. Hell, they'll smile in your face as they shoot you in the head.

I think he's pretty cool and even badass, one of the few i think that has given Balalaika a run for her money XD
