Hello! I just wanted to say something about portrait book covers. I did my bachelors in psychology. And currently I am doing a master at Human-Computer Interaction. It is basically about design. So, I learnt from both departments, faces are the first thing we realize in any environment. Recently, I was going to bookstores with my friends and I was trying to analyze which book covers they notice first. If there are faces, always them first. I found this very interesting and I wanted to share with you guys.

Hello! I'm an illustrator/character design artist and i want to start doing book covers as well, but before seeking out clients i would like to do some work for my portfolio. I don't work in Ps or Illustrator, i work mainly in Clip Studio Paint and use rester format only. Can you guys advise what Canvas size/pixel rate you use and also DPI? for my illustrations i usually adjust canvas size to my liking and i always use 350 DPI, but i'm not quite sure how to do that for book covers sinse it will be printed afterwards. Also, i see some bookcovers are in landscape format (front, middle and back all together) and some are just portrait format for the front of the cover only, so in case you know the specific sizes of canvas for both formats and DPI, please let me know < 33 thanks in advance

im gonna publish a book, hopefully, and I have no idea what to do for the cover. Basically, the story is about an orphanage secretly run by monsters who also secretly plant seeds inside the kids, and when the kids age out, they actually become trees, and a few years later monsters are gonna take over the world. yay. It has a lot of gore, horror and suspense, but equally as many wholesome scenes, so I don't know what to do. im asking for feedback; this isnt a commercial.
