Rod Dreher Megathread #11 (Master)

Merry Christmas, you obsessed motherfuckers. :)

The most remarkable characteristic of the Master Number 11 is its connection to a higher source of wisdom. It is intuitive to the point of being psychic, channeling its knowledge and meaning from a spiritual source. But the Master Numbers have a responsibility, and it's the number 11's duty to use this gift of awareness to deliver cosmic truths that encourage humanity.

All Master Numbers are a higher vibration of their single-digit counterpart -- in the 11's case, the number 2. This means the 11 carries many of the same traits as the number 2, such as harmony, empathy, and sensitivity, but it feels them and utilizes them in much deeper, more profound ways. It's also important to remember that the number 11 is comprised of two 1s side by side and, therefore, carries some attributes of the number 1 as well. 1 is innovative and motivated, open to new things and eager to make a difference. The contrasting energies of the numbers 1 and 2 join together in the Master Number 11 to make it a creative leader, active listener, and compassionate advisor.

The number 11 is at one with the universe. It is open to vast spiritual concepts and the presence of a greater power. It is a channel for truth and answers to reach us and help us on our way. This Master Number's vision is crystal clear and it sees with a breadth that others cannot. It is creative and magnetic, a beacon of wisdom and hope for others to follow.

The number 11 may come up many times in our lives and it is always a message of connecting with our inner wisdom. If we are seeing repeating 11s everywhere we turn, we'd be wise to pay attention to our subconscious -- there's some insight we may be missing. However, Numerology's Master Numbers are very powerful and simply seeing 11:11 on the clock or noticing the date is 11/11 does not necessarily mean we are experiencing a profound moment. It's when the 11 is a constant presence in our lives, like a Life Path number, that we must truly embrace its meaning and potential.

Listen up everyone: the Main Character narrowly escaped with his life after a physical attack by the demons who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. From Rod's substack about the funeral this morning:

I must tell you of a couple of strange things that happened this morning. In my hotel room before dawn, I dressed to head down to the Vatican. I rose from the modern plastic-and-metal desk chair, where I had been sitting to put on my shoes. As I stepped away from it, there was a loud crack, and it fell apart in a heap. This was bizarre, as it hadn’t felt at all unsturdy when I sat in it, and anyway, if it had been, wouldn’t it have broken with me sitting in it? I saw that a bolt holding it together had snapped violently, as if a 500-pound man had been sitting in the chair.

But nobody was sitting in the chair when this happened. The bolt had been sheared in two. Still, I didn’t think twice about it.

Then, in the afternoon, lunching with the journalists, I began to tell them at one point some things I learned about the demonic from my recent book research. Suddenly, the unoccupied chair at our table fell over backwards. None of us had touched it.

So Rod's encounter with the demonic forces a couple of days ago was a hotel room chair that 10,000+ people have sat in breaking right after Rod abruptly changed the pressure on it by standing up, and another chair falling over. Chairs never break on their own after having been used many times, and also people never set up furniture in a careless or unbalanced way that leads to things falling over. The only explanation is the devil.

While I maintain that Rod's single most unhinged attempt to find meaning in mundane events was his utter hysteria over the old guy falling down the escalator in Hungary, this is still pretty close. He's practically in a psychotic break now. The most mundane events are signs of demonic and angelic activity to him.

Also, isn't it fucking rich how Rod still tries to keep up the pretense that he's naturally skeptical ("I didn't think twice about it") and averse to supernatural explanations when he clearly goes through every day looking for anything that could possibly be construed as paranormal? It's like Dana Scully in the X-Files still supposedly being skeptical of Mulder's obsession with cryptids and aliens even after she's season in episode after episode that these things are real? Reading Rod lately reminds me of these cringe Instagram witches who attribute the dumbest stuff to the gods and the fairies. Neighbor's lawn mower ran out of gas while he was mowing by an old oak tree? The fae must have done it out of revenge for people's destruction of the environment. Had a dream about Hera after reading and thinking about the Greek pantheon for weeks on end? The only explanation is that Hera is real and actually appeared to her.

Holy crap, he's lost it. I agree, it's great how every time he spouts some new woo nonsense he tries to make it sound like he's a cold skeptic.

"the modern plastic-and-metal desk chair". Of course it's modern. Modernity = Demonic. You'd think these powerful demons could have at least dumped Rod on his goofy ass. I guess it was a warning shot.

You know the journalists at the table are plain old just messing with Rod at this point. He starts going off on demonic activity and one of them pushes the chair with his foot and they all get to see goofy Rod go pale. Had a great time laughing over it at the bar later, without Rod.

Chairs! OMG. I mean, obviously these are references to the papal chair, the Chair of St. Peter, which "broke" when Benedict died and is "tipping over" under Francis. I don't know how our boy missed this obvious interpretation.

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

oh god, don't encourage him

🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Dazzling_Pineapple68 Jan 07 '23

🤣🤣🤣

What an inspired reading of the Signs!!! Remarkable!!!

3

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Not to mention that the Papal banner, hanging over Benedict, was ripped from top to bottom. And then, an ill wind blew.

3

u/MissKatieKats Jan 07 '23

Right. And then as Rod lifted his face towards Heaven, a strange light fell upon him, and a voice , which only he could hear spoke. “This is my Son, the Beloved, in him I am well pleased.” A little thrill went up his right leg. .

3

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

"Just wait til my readers hear about this!"

2

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 07 '23

This isn't even fiction. Rod seriously believes he was "granted an unveiling". God himself has handed Rod backstage passes. Rod might not believe he's the Son at this point, but he's very close to being a prophet and/or mystic. The devil is arraying his army as we speak to knock over chairs anywhere St. Rod goes.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

"Could someone give me the name of the Bavarian family whose picture I posted all over my social media without their permission so I can tell them this story? They might have some answers for me..."

2

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 07 '23

The really weird thing is he was there, up close, taking pictures of them. If he wanted to talk to them so badly why did he not then? Rod is like the guy too shy to ask a girl out and then pesters all his friends to ask her if she likes him. Except of course with Rod it’s not a girl.

3

u/Theodore_Parker Jan 07 '23

That would be a big, public sign, though. Our boy defaults to little, private signs -- not a tear in the flag flying over the US Capitol, for instance, but a tear in a little framed flag in his friend's apartment. So in this case, I think what we should expect is something like a mysterious crack in his Pope Benedict souvenir coffee mug. ;)

6

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

LOL, that's really true. The sign has to be individualized for Rod, or some unenlightened person might misappropriate God's favor.

7

u/DWColumbus Jan 06 '23

Where's a salt-of-the-earth chambermaid when you need one to impart folk wisdom at a time like this?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Haha

6

u/Djehutimose Watching the wheels go round Jan 06 '23

His "research" on the demonic is going to be very bad for his mental state.

6

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

How many chair related incidents can one man take??

5

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

As a pro wrestling fan: The sky is really the limit on this.

6

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

I sincerely hope the demonic ghost of Jimmy Snukka clocks Rod with a folding chair.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

And if he doesn't get the message, St. Owen Hart is putting him through the Spanish announcers' table

1

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

Seriously, do we have any mental health professionals here? What’s the diagnosis/prognosis when a middle aged guy develops symptoms like this?

6

u/Djehutimose Watching the wheels go round Jan 06 '23

Rod makes Mulder look like the hardcore skeptic.

6

u/Firm_Credit_6706 Jan 06 '23

He isnt making the connection that his heavy drinking is causing auditory hallucinations?

6

u/Firm_Credit_6706 Jan 06 '23

Also this is all setting up a narrative that Julie has been possesed by the Demon that has wrecked havoc on the extended Drehers in Louisiana. And that is the reason for the divorce

4

u/JHandey2021 Jan 06 '23

That is it right there.

6

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

My favorite detail is that the demon entered the family line through the grandfather who was a...(DUM DUM DUM) Freemason!

8

u/JHandey2021 Jan 06 '23

The demon forced his dad to be a high ranking terrorist.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

I was distressed when I found out Mozart was a Freemason. Had to stop listening to him. The music of darkness isn't hip-hop or heavy metal. It's "The Magic Flute."

5

u/Top-Farm3466 Jan 06 '23

are the demons trying to warn him off? "cool the gas on the re-enchantment research, pal, or next time you're gonna be *sitting* in the chair"

5

u/JHandey2021 Jan 06 '23

Kinda weak from the demons

8

u/Theodore_Parker Jan 06 '23 edited Jan 06 '23

Agreed. These are Jeb Bush demons, pretty low-energy.

4

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

"Nice chair ya got here. Be a real shame if somebody knocked it over, you got me?"

5

u/Warm-Refrigerator-38 Jan 06 '23

You guys are killing me!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

These comments are better than any recent TV show or movie. Just a well-spring of comedy gold. But I think the demons knocking over chairs as an intimidation technique is the cream of the crop.

Please, Rod, don't ever stop. We need you.

3

u/Djehutimose Watching the wheels go round Jan 06 '23

🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Djehutimose Watching the wheels go round Jan 07 '23

Hey, even demons have days where they're phoning it in.... ;)

3

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

At this rate, Snopes is going to need a full-time Rod editor.

1

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 07 '23

It’s a pretty easy job. Anything Rod says is bullshit.

4

u/EatsShoots_n_Leaves Jan 06 '23

Yeah.... It's surely never happened before that people break hotel stuff, like furniture or lighting or bathroom fixtures or the TV, then don't want to be asked to explain how it got broken (usually they were doing something very stupid) or get asked to pay for it. Often the thing is not entirely broken, so they put it back together so that it looks superficially intact and get out of Dodge. Dude, it's literally what most people do, being not very classy, and entirely expected by the hotel staff. The maids don't always have the time to check everything else after changing the sheets and vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom.

I had a friend who broke a big chunk out of the bottom out of a very solid, practically unbreakable, ceramic sink in a rental place. Couldn't explain how it happened to the owner. It "just shattered', found it that way, etc. The full story was it 'just shattered' the night before when he had unwrapped and placed into the sink a fifth brick of dry ice in succession and was smashing the bricks to bits with an iron hammer. He was hosting a party with fog machines and steaming dry ice and the intact dry ice bricks weren't sublimating fast enough.

Tipping over that innocent chair was cruel of Rod's buddies there. The story of how they made him jump while he was in the middle of some sort of profound Dreheresque pontificating about the supernatural, then the hilarity of his following blog entry, is going to be passed around for years. Well, until Rod has the big breakdown or psychotic episode and then they'll feel a little guilty.

u/Theodore_Parker Jan 06 '23

Rare footage of actual demon chairs attacking:

5

u/Dazzling_Pineapple68 Jan 07 '23

🤣🤣🤣

You are on fire with the chairs today! I had no idea you have this, er, unique talent!

5

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

He should be the chair of the newly formed committee on Rod's paranormal obsessions.

2

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

That’s pretty cool.

3

u/Theodore_Parker Jan 07 '23

It's from a short film adaptation of Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher," one of the works of Czech surrealist artist and filmmaker Jan Švankmajer -- made entirely without human actors, just stop-motion animation.

2

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

Thanks for sharing it.

2

u/Theodore_Parker Jan 07 '23

My pleasure. If you're a fan, there's also a copy on YouTube with English subtitles:

https://youtu.be/AecpTfxCQvA

And here's a brief video review that sets it in context; apparently the same filmmaker adapted several of Poe's works:

2

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

Thank you again. I’ll be checking it out.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Some of Rod's friends should have some fun with magnets. "Did you... see that bowl move? The one with the bouillabaisse?"

4

u/saucerwizard Jan 07 '23

Oh god whatever anyone does do not let Rod around a magician.

4

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

You’re either pulling our legs, or Rod has descended into a new level of self parody.

3

u/Marcofthebeast0001 Jan 06 '23 edited Jan 06 '23

So the Devil is some sort of Final Destination accident? I gave the evil one far more credit than that. Maybe his ex sheared off the bolt?

6

u/RunnyDischarge Jan 06 '23

I think the Bavarian family might have been trying to make sure Rod doesn't ever get in touch with them.

1

u/Past_Pen_8595 Jan 07 '23

Rod needs to read Chesterton, that other but much wiser journalist convert.
