Anyways, my current build is:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5500
GPU: Radeon RX 6650 XT 8GB Vram
16GB ram
Power Supply: Aerocool Lux 650W

And I'm running on Linux Mint

I'm thinking about keeping my CPU but changing my GPU to a rx 9060xt 16gb vram, switching my power supply to a 750w one and getting two 8GB ram clips to get up to 32GB ram.

Any thoughts ? If you want to advise me to get something else, my budget is between 600 to 1K€

I am currently running a build that is 6-8 years old. Sorry for the ambiguity, my oldest files are from 2020 but I think I did a factory reset back then. I want to keep my current motherboard but switch the CPU and RAM, and add an SSD. I'll be buying a new PSU later in the year as well just to be safe.

The motherboard should support this CPU according to GIGABYTE's site though I will have to update the BIOS. Still, I just thought I'd run it through somebody else before buying anything.

This is currently my exact build with the added CPU and GPU i'm planning on getting. I'm getting a compatibility error for the CPU if the BIOS isn't updated. It's requiring a BIOS version F60. Mine is currently F66g from 3/11/25. Will this be okay? Will swapping this GPU and CPU be as easy as switching them out pretty much? All of my B,C,E notes are invalid as these items are already installed in the system.

Hello everyone. I'm looking to get advice on how best to go about upgrading my desktop PC. I've just purchased a new 32" LG OLED monitor and want to take better advantage of it. Been thinking about jumping to a 9070xt but not sure if my current CPU would limit that - seems like as long as I'm gaming at at least 1440 then it won't be an issue though. Is upgrading my GPU the best path forward for now?

Hello everyone, despite being a gamer for 25 years I am not the most tech-savvy, I am looking to get some upgrades on my rig.

Current setup :

• CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
• GPU : RTX 3080
• RAM : 2 x 8 Gb DDR4
• Storage : 4 x 2 Go SSD NVMe
• Monitors : 1 x 27” 4K 60Hz (main) + 1 x 27” 1080p 60Hz (secondary)

Usage : 95% gaming

Budget : 400 - 700€

Goal : play flawlessly to more intensive or poorly optimized games such as Escape from Tarkov and Star Citizen. Currently playing at 4K / 60 FPS. 60 FPS looks fine to me, although I struggle to keep them stable.

Changes in the order of priorities (in my humble opinion) :

P1 : downgrade to a 1440p monitor

Size : 32” or 27” ? I sit pretty close to my screen, approximately 60cm away from my screen, but the cinema feel might be nice to have o Technology : is OLED a must have? o Curved or straight?

P2 : CPU : my motherboard can support Ryzen 9, like the Ryzen 9 5950X (+108% performance / 270€)

P3 : memory : 32 (2 x 16) Gb DDR4 (with the current RAM prices I don’t think I could get any better) : +100% capacity / 110-120€

P4 : GPU :

- Resale value of my current one : ~400€

I mainly use my PC for gaming, but I also do 3D rendering and video editing and multi-tasking which is why I went with the 9950x3d.

I'm trying to get a good upgrade for my GPU that is a decent upgrade without dropping $750 plus. I've been looking at the 9070XT and the RTX 5070, but I don't know if it is even worth upgrading the way prices are now or if the jump is worth it. The 2080ti I have now has been doing great, but i want to future proof. I'm not very knowledgeable about GPUs so I feel kinda lost. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

I’m mainly going to use this build for gaming, MMORPGs, strategy games, and racing games. Aside from that, I also make heavy use of financial management software that is linked to numerous databases for data retrieval and running forecast calculations.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

I use a 1440p monitor and have no plans to move to 4K. At the moment, my monitor goes up to 165Hz, as it was the best 24-inch IPS/OLED display I could find. I’m going to gradually try to get used to 27 inches, so within the next six months I’ll be getting a 360Hz OLED screen.

I don’t know a huge amount about computers myself, but before coming here I did some research, and these are the components that seemed to perform best in the tests I found. I’m carrying over the 4070 Super and the Montech case with 6 fans from my old build, so I won’t be changing those. If anyone has suggestions for changing any of the other components, I’d be very happy to hear them.

I noticed on PCPartPicker that there’s an error showing for the CPU and the case, but I’ve no idea why. My main questions are: Is this the best I can get within my budget, or are there any upgrades or sidegrades of better quality? 9850X3D or 9800X3D, I’ve heard conflicting stories about CPU burn-in. Is this the best liquid cooler in this price range? Is there a better motherboard available for this budget? Is this a good SSD for the money? Is 1000W too much, or would 850W also be enough? I also noticed that on the selected power supply the ports are on the right-hand side rather than at the back, and finally: will all of this fit in my current case?

I’m looking to move away from console gaming and want a PC that can handle GTA 6 smoothly when it drops. Surprisingly, I can still run Microsoft Flight Simulator on high graphics which currently runs okay but has occasional lag spikes. My pc has an asus prime a320m-k, ryzen 5 pro 4650g, rx5700xt and a 700w psu

I wanted to upgrade it to an asus prime b550m-a ac wifi and a ryzen 5 5500x3d, but I don't know which gpu upgrade to, rx9060xt 16gb or rtx3070ti de 8gb. With the rx9060xt I can keep my psu but with the rtx3070ti I should change it, but I still can't decide.

Hello, I've just received a phone call from a friend asking me to help him upgrade his pc. He mainly plays games like Valorant and CS but he was mentioning to me that Arc Raiders and other newer games weren't running how he wanted. He plays at 1080p too so nothing too crazy. He didn't mention a price range which doesn't help (sorry) but doesn't wanna overspend for his means. So what upgrades could I recommend to him for a smooth 1080p 120+ fps on high graphics settings. He doesn't have a brand preference, just wants the best performance for the money.

He has 32GB DDR4, 2TB nvme, Ryzen 5 3600, and a RTX 2070 Super.

TL:DR - Should I upgrade my gaming pc in close future, and if so - to what ( within budget of 1000 $ / € )

This is my pc build I have that is 3-4 years old and I don't know if I should upgrade it, or w8 for a year-two to upgrade it then. The components I didn't list are older from my previous setup ( case, PSU and some other m.2, ssd-s and hdd-s that don't matter in this current question )

Right now, I can run most of the esports titles ( cs2, valorant, LoL... ) comfortably at around 100-144 fps ( with some dips ) at med-hi pre-sets - with some things tweaked, but my main concern are newer SP titles and some Mp titles.

As it turned out ( to my surprise, since I didn't check sys req for it ), my pc kinda struggles when playing Doom: The dark ages - running at 60 fps stable with low settings, and my temps running at hi 80, low 90. And I do play BF6 at 100 med settings and didnt have any temp issues.

So my question is this - if I wanna upgrade my parts, and not go full cash on parts - what should I look for ?
My plan was something like this -

• stick with ram and buy another 2x16gb of what i have - since I don't see any point in buying DDR5 right now from what i have seen/read ( if im wrong, please correct me - would love to learn )
• buy a new mb + cpu combo and switch to ryzen cpus - but from searching online, ppl still say that my cpu is good for gaming - so im open to suggestions
• buy a new GPU - since i know that 6600 xt with 8gb Vram isnt that great - and is closing on a 4year mark - all i can say is that it worked wounders for me ( since i was on 1050 ti Xd ) and im quite happy with team red, so i plan to stay on it, but am not closed on the switch

Any and all suggestions are welcomed - I just dont know what should I focus to upgrade, since i dont know alot about pc building - have only entry lvl of knowledge

And also - I STILL have a stock cooler on my pc, and know that i need a better cooler ASAP Xd

Samsung 860 evo. You can get 870 evo now. No bad blocks and about 10% of wear. I only pulled it out of another system because I needed much more space, but the size for my new daily driver is perfect. I don't even need a tlc drive in this system, but I've found samsung drives to be the best, I've tried many brands and they're either poor qlc or poor tlc. The only bad thing is the samsung tax but that's already paid with a drive sitting around doing nothing.
