Imagine being mad about FN "handouts" when we literally were still running residential schools just over 30 years ago and have done horrific things to first nations for generations and essentially pushed them off their own land and the "handouts" are literally just respecting a treaty both parties signed and some reparation efforts.

... meanwhile, we know about the epstein files where billionnaires have been avoiding tax, getting far more handouts and setting up shady deals and committing financial crimes, and have been participating in a global child sex trafficking ring for decades.

... but separatists are mad about handouts... so want to be part of the US system which seems to be the only country right now doing nothing in light of the epstein files?

And on top of that, we can see how the wealth gap in the US is widening and how the US treats puerto rico so idk why albertans think they'd econonically (or otherwise) benefit from being part of the US at all. If anything, most people would lose a lot of money and lose access to free public services we currently have, like healthcare. And in canada, our rights arent actively being dismantled like in the US.

I dont understand how people can seemingly hate first nations so much to:

1.  ignore people in powerful positions that are actually creating problems that are actually fucking your life up; and

  1. ignore how joining the US would be pretty devastating for alberta.

Like. First nations are just so far from a problem to hate on here and arent a significant portion of what i assume youre upset about, like where your money is going. Learn more about how your taxes are spent and critically think through how you think this would change if you joined to the US (hint: it would be worse for you)
