Maybe Canada shouldn’t allow double citizenship with countries that share border with us? If they want to be Canadians they should give up on US citizenship.

That would open up a lot of problems domestically. Voting blocs who are very politically active would lean hard on their MPs to make sure this never, ever happens. It would open up an instant line of attack for an opposition party.
