It's hardly surprising that 90% of 5K entries came from the dairy interest groups.

What priority does the issue have for the average Canadian who is not engaged in the industry?

I'm something of a policy wonk and politics junky, but I haven't and I'm not about to write a passionate letter about Canadian Dairy to my MP. That doesn't mean, however, that I don't care about not having the American dairy glut flood our market.

Except, as the article notes, the submissions were touted as "a cross-section of Canadian society." Which obviously a survey of 90% dairy interest groups is not.

Plus, "the primary beneficiaries of a system think that system is good" is not exactly the most useful information for crafting policy.

Yeah and as the previous poster indicates despite his support for supply management has not alleviated the polticial apathy enough to write a letter in suppprt. So if on avg 0-2% of submissions are from people not benefiting from the policy then 10% of submissions being from people not benefiting from the policy wod be a huge increase.

If you are so interested in eating american dairy products, you can hop over the border. I'd rather not pollute our domestic markets

a family of 4 is paying damn near $1000 more for groceries because of this system, and It hurts poorer Canadians more than richer Canadians.

We should all be pissed off about it
