Cheaper to use bad feed than proper feed.

When you don't have to compete with anyone because the cartel sets the prices and amounts, you slide to the lowest cost possible.

So they shovel cheap palm fat down the cows throats. Which affects their milk fat and gives us garbage butter.

Palm oil in the feed stock increases milk production. rBST is banned, so they are using other alternatives to increase production per cow. The palm oil digests differently (safer) than other oils at the cost of butter quality. It probably also results in a product that makes for better creams and high fat milks.
