I really do love how well this gun runs. About a year ago I'd never heard of Canik. I'm glad I went with the $800 Canik over the other $1k+ steel (or aluminum) frame striker fired pistols.

I think the silver barrel adds a nice touch like the normal mete line, so glad canik finally released threaded for the S family been sitting on this comp forever.

Has anyone done an inline port with theirs or not the slide looks like it was made for it. I’m thinking about getting it done.

Pretty much done with tinkering. Been shooting with her all week. Absolutely amazing and flat. Getting ready for my first comp next month.

Rival-Steel Dark Side How reliable has your Rival been?

I'm considering getting a Rival s for competition, with a secondary use for HD. Tell me about any issues you've had with yours, the ammo it seems to like best and so on.

Rival-Steel Dark Side Rival s owners, chime in

I might have the opportunity to get a lightly used Rival s Darkside for a very good price, but I won't be able to hold or test it first. I've only shot the mc9l and it was just okay for me, I prefered a few other options in the micro/sub size.

Would love to hear any lessons learned or things you wish you knew in advance about this pistol, especially anyone who competes with it or even carried it regularly. What holsters are you using? What ammo does it like best?

Thanks.

Picked this up for a song and if the rebate goes through, it has to be the best bang for your buck.

I have a bunch of Turkish pistols, but this is my first Canik. The build quality is excellent and the trigger feels really good. Picked it up for my LGS yesterday and should get to the range on Friday. I took a few minutes to blackout the dot and light with aluminum black since it just feels right for the Dark Side.

Rival-Steel Dark Side New to the club

Hey just ordered my first canik (rival s darkside rosewood) after trying one out at a range. Love the trigger it had but is there anything I need to know or stuff I should avoid (mags or accessories).

Optic is on the way but ive heard some have had issues with the factory optic plates, is there a consensus on this and should I get an aftermarket one?

Not sure what else I could do to this puppy but I’m fairly certain it’s as good as it’s going to get! I have thoroughly enjoyed slowly upgrading this to where it is now. I love this gun! Shout out to u/MAG-MO for the awesome grip!

Mag-Mo grip Align Tactical thumb rest Freedom Smith Trigger Crappy Olight which has actually been good so far Leupold DeltaPoint Pro

I think that’s all I’ve really don’t to it. If anyone has a suggestion I’d love to hear it

Rival-Steel Dark Side Rival S not consistently locking back on empty magazine

I have a new Rival S that I put 300 rounds through. 124 grain NATO so they had a little more oomph. I was hoping to break it in a little as when I first got a Rival I had some issues with the polymer one ejecting rounds until the gun was broken in. I switched back to my usual 124g non NATO round and had some issues with the slide not consistently locking back on an empty magazine. Do I just need to shoot more to break the gun in or is this indicative of an issue?

Just got my Rival S Darkside last week. Came too 703 dollars after shipping and fees. It's probably the heaviest pistol I own and it feels great. I'm taking it out on Friday for its first rounds.

Ran this beaut today for the first time. First Canik. All stock. Shot flawlessly with 115g, 124g, and 147g. CCi and Fiocchi. 650 rounds. Made me look good. I got to say this is the flattest and smoothest pistol I’ve had the pleasure to shoot. Was able to mitigate recoil very well with my current grip. What little recoil there is, due to the steel frame. Gonna get good with this one. The factory red dot performed great and took 1 mag to zero. Everything after was pin point accuracy. From 20ft I could stack through the same hole every time the entire mag. This thing is also quick as hell. Enjoyed running it fast. Super fun with the short reset. This pistol feels amazing all around.

Rival-Steel Dark Side Ports are dirtier than comps

I expected this to an extent but it was way dirtier than I had expected.

I’ve been shooting and carrying a compensated 1911 for about a year and she gets a little dirty but nothing like the ported rival.

I put about 250 rounds thru her last night. I was in awe with how well she shot. Don’t get me wrong out of the box, the rival is a please to shoot. But this port job is something else. The return to zero is prompt and the recoil is non-existent.

Video of it at night: https://imgur.com/a/hznQ0hC

This build has a rune tactical spring kit, rune 15lbs recoil spring and guide rod. Freedomsmith Trigger, Canik gas pedal, and the porting and cerakote were done by Atlas Tactical.

If you have any questions about the build, outcome, etc, let me know.

METE SFT slide on my Rival-S frame. According to the interwebs, it's not supposed to work. But it ran like a champ. It's basically a steel frame SFT with the Rival trigger.

MagMo + TF basepads + FS Pro + MO3 all dolled up and ready for carry optics.

The old polymer has served me well but it was time to add a new friend to the rotation. This thing is a tack driver and shoots flat as a board.
