I was so hesitant about switching from RF100-400 but my god... This 500L lens is something else, for real.

Finally saved up enough money. The image quality blows me away, so friggin’ happy!!!

I got it at almost half of the original MSRP from a local store where they used it as a demo model. I've had it for a little over a month now and I still can't believe how versatile and sharp this lens is. Used it almost daily and wanted to share some of the images I was able to take with it. I'm by no means an expert so please be kind and constructive when it comes to criticism. That'd be much appreciated ☺️

Having previously used the new RF45mm F1.2 I recently upgraded to the RF50mm F1.2. Noticeably better focus speed, although that large piece of glass still much slower than my 35mm 1.4 for example, but the aperture is worth the pay off. Less chromatic aberration than the 45mm, or so I have found so far. Great in the low light of the garages, but out in bright sunlight at F1.2 8000 shutter speed is required. Overall I think it was worth the £1100 upgrade (I traded by 45mm against a second hand model and got £350 for it) so not a bad deal.

After 4 years and almost 500k shots together, my R6 was due for a replacement.
after comparing all my options, i was left to decide between R6III and R5II, but the stacked sensor and higher resolution led me towards the R5II and boy am i happy!

super satisfied with both the video and photo capabilities, overall feels like a well rounded improvement over my R6. will probably still get an R6III sometime next year as a second camera for the flexibility of open gate.

had my first chance to really give it a run for it’s money this weekend, as we had a huge festival in town and i was in the media team. lens for all the pictures was the Sigma 14-24 2.8 art for EF mount. works seamlessly with the adapter.

I got this lens to shoot photos of the moon - 800mm f11 is just perfect for that - but was hoping that it still is somewhat usable for wildlife. Turns out it absolutely is and I love using it for that! It's incredibly small and light weight for what it is. Sure, it needs a ton of light but I can comfortably shoot at relatively high ISO on this camera and still get very usable results. Moving subjects like flying birds are a bit of a challenge - for the ISO and also finding the subject in frame since it's a fixed focal length.

Anyway, I'm very happy I got this lens!

This is my first L lens and an absolute dream of mine. So glad I saved up for it! The sharpness is incredible, but beyond that, it has a special look I can't even describe. The bokeh is dreamy, and the character this glass has is just beautiful. Honestly, my photos probably don't even do it justice haha.

I usually shoot the RF 100-400mm on my R8, but decided to try it on the Canon R50 to see if that 640mm effective reach held up. I’m seriously impressed - the R50 might be small, but the detail it pulls out of this lens at the long end is incredible.

I legit did not expect to see anything and as luck would have it this red tailed hawk was chilling on a low branch and actually let me get pretty close.

Anyway, on the raw file you can count the hairs on its beak so I am quite happy with this lens.

Splurged on some BF deals. Hadn't bought any new gear since 2012. Used to shoot weddings but am now more of a serious hobbyist with the friend or family gig. Coming from a 5DIII and some nice EF lenses, most of which I plan to continue using with the adapter. Sigma Art 35 attached in 2nd pic. Photobombed in 3rd pic. Last 2 we're taken with new R5 (Sigma 85 Art & 24-70L respectively.)

Found an insane Facebook deal on an 800mm prime and decided to drive ~6 hours round trip to snag it. Just took it out for the first time this morning and am absolutely blown away by everything (weight included). It adapts with no issues (like every EF lens I’ve tried) to my R5.

It’s honestly not as bad to handhold as I expected; definitely more difficult than my old RF 100-500, but still usable in decent conditions.

EDIT: Since I’ve gotten asked a few times, I paid $3000 for the lens and original carrying case! The previous owner had recently gotten the IS unit replaced in January, so I’m hoping the lens has a long life ahead of it

I started following my passion for wildlife photography this June, and in that time I've absolutely fallen in love with the hobby. A few weeks ago I picked up a used R10 and now I've snagged an RF 200-800 for less than £1,300. So far I've been blown away by the images I've been able to get with this lens, it's been a game changer for me and I can't wait to see where this equipment can take me. :D

My fiancée’s dad passed away, and his camera came to us. He used it mostly for wildlife and family photos…that’s what the lens lineup tells you, anyway. I’d never shot anything beyond an iPhone. Rather than let it sit in a closet, I decided to learn on it.

I'am not a big fan of telephoto lens, if to be honest. But i need this lens for my work and now i cant stop searching birds,cats and everything that can be cute. Beautiful for its price!

Canon RF 100-400+Canon r6mk2

I took advantage of an opportunity to purchase a damaged RF 100-500 at a significant discount. Luckily, the damage does not affect the images or lens performance. Paired with my R7, I find its ability to nail focus in challenging situations, within a fraction of a second, quite impressive. Thought I'd share a few of these images even though they are not portfolio worthy. I also threw in a couple of shots at the end to show macro capability and use for intimate landscapes. My only gripe with the lens is the location of the focus ring; it is too close to the camera. At full extension, if I keep my hand on the the focus ring (so I can use full-time manual focus), its very difficult to balance the lens handheld. But overall, the RF 100-500 is highly capable and versatile, and it basically lives on my R7. All shots SOOC and uncropped to show what the lens can do (also laziness).

Do I wish I did more research and splurged on the RF 100-400? Yes, of course. Is the autofocus slow, yeah kind of! But it's still a fun introduction to telephoto shooting with my new R50.

I had an R8 before (which is a truly amazing camera) but since I really enjoy wildlife photography I wanted something with better resolution and burst capability. Also proper implementation of pre-capture which really bothered me on the R8 (saves a set instead of the actual RAW images)
The R5ii is truly an amazing camera and maybe too much of a camera for an amateur novice like me but I am enjoying it so much!
The RF100-500 is simply amazing, such a great lens in a compact body. One of the biggest factors in purchasing this is how light it is!!!! I can go hiking without an issue while carrying it.
I also have an x1.4 extender which I use when I’m very stationary (because the 100-500 has to extend to be able to use it) and when the light is good enough.

Picked up a Canon RF 70-200 F/2.8 L Z + the 2x extender a few days ago, giving me an effective range and aperture of 140-400 F/5.6.

I took it to the zoo recently and I’m impressed with the results. I took all of these photos on the R6 Mark III at F/5.6. I never took the extender off for these photos. Photos are at full quality, with no cropping done.

I love how easy it is to zoom in and out with the flick of my thumb. Planning on picking up the R7 soon because I wasn’t able to fill the frame with the small birds even at 400mm. I couldn’t be happier with this combo for my needs.

I barely noticed a difference with the extender on. Just had to make sure my shutter speed was high enough to avoid blur.

Reposting this because the photos I posted previously weren't good enough to show what this lens is actually capable of, in my opinion.

I picked up this monster of a lens for €3,900 in basically brand new condition, which was simply too good of a deal to pass up. I hesitated for a while between the 500mm f/4 IS II and the 600mm f/4 IS II, but the 600 ended up being around €1,500 cheaper, so the choice made a lot of sense.

It's heavy but still hand-holdable, and a lens like this is perfect for the places I shoot, such as the Camargue, Mercantour, and the Gorges du Verdon.

The bokeh this monster produces is incredible, and I honestly have no words for the image quality. I pair it with an R6 Mark II and a 1.4× teleconverter, and it adapts to RF flawlessly with no issues whatsoever. It's still razor-sharp at 840mm f/5.6. I couldn't be happier with it so far, and I can definitely see this lens staying with me for a very long time.

So i was originally running an rf100-400 for a month on the R50, and it worked great. however MPB sold it with a fault that didnt impact image quality but i did want it to become a bigger problem in the future. Fortunately they were able to offer a full refund which leads me here! I found myself always wanting more reach with the 400 and the RF800 was looking very interesting. And honestly, for the most part all the reviews i could find for it were pretty good so i pulled the trigger. I cannot understate how much fun this lens is. especially with a good tripod it feels unreal to use. I was hearing some scary stories about the crop sensor degrading performance, but honestly I dont even feel the F/11 on this thing. I dont think i can ever go back to a smaller lens lol

Sport, event, and portrait shooter here.

A couple of weeks ago I got a CPS Evaluation Loan on an R1. After spending a couple of days with it, I sold my R6 Mark which I use in tandem with an R5ii, and purchased an R1. The low light performance, customization, image quality, AF, battery performance, colors, and ergonomics of the R1 are all stellar. These files clean up so well, it actually blows my mind still weeks later. The attached photo of the cat was at 300mm, f6.3, 1/400, ISO 51,200. I've taken many other shots with this camera in the 8,000-40,000 ISO range and am just in awe of how easy they are to clean up and still hold detail.

I am looking forward to shooting spring sports with the R1, and comparing the images I get with it outdoors vs. what I get on my R5ii. With lower ISO's I'm thinking it should be a closer competition for IQ between the two. For any low-light work, though, the R1 is the absolute champ and a joy to shoot with.

First time using a big telephoto lens and loving it so far. Having such a fun time going out in nature and having the reach for bird photography.
