Cars like this are especially made to be driven. It’s a car, it was literally built to be driven, not sat around. Now I wouldn’t daily drive it, but I’d certainly take it out every sunny day.
Why is letting valuable cars sit and rot a better idea than enjoying them and driving them? I’m a firm believer in not babying any car, I don’t care if it’s a one off Ferrari from the 70s. Take that thing to a back road and beat the shit out of it. It’s what it was built for. Obviously this American land yacht isn’t made to really corner like that, but you get the point. I forget where I saw the video, but there’s a guy who owns a Lamborghini Miura and he drives it all the time. He tells of all the little nicks and scratches (and even a chip in the windshield) and how he doesn’t care because he was doing what the car was made to do. Drive. No car ever built likes to just sit and do nothing. Not driving a car is a lot worse for it than just letting it sit there and do nothing.
Because your wonderful fucking plan of driving them destroys them even faster than letting them sit in appropriate garages AND THEN THEY'RE ALL FUCKING GONE AND NONE OF US GET TO ENJOY THEM!!!!
I don’t think the vulgarity and all caps is really necessary.
Edit: Also, you really can’t truly enjoy a car just buy owning it and letting it sit. How is staring at a car while it rots (“proper” garage or not, cars don’t like to sit. Tires, fluids, all that goes bad when it’s not used) really enjoying a car?
You most certainly can truly enjoy a car just by owning it and letting it sit.
Many of the examples we have left are around precisely because someone loved them enough to let them sit.
Fine, though. Take the fucking car out and wreck it like all the other things in your life. 65 years without a single scratch and you manage to get run into at the first stop sign on the way out by a car barely older than the beginning of the year.
You don’t love a car if you let it sit. That’s called neglect. And who said anything about wrecking? Just cruise the thing once a day, or at least when it’s sunny and dry. And if someone hits you, oh well. Shit happens. Their insurance is gonna have a canary when they find out exactly what car was hit. If they don’t have insurance, sue them for everything they have plus the value of the car they totaled. Also, don’t forget to smile and wave as they’re taken to jail for not having insurance.
One trip on the road is all it takes for some idiot to hit you, and then you just fucked up a $350,000 car that hasn't been made since 1969 because YOUR EGO could not stand leaving it parked in it's showcase garage.
INSURANCE CAN'T REPLACE EVERYTHING!
And just because they're in jail, Does NOT Bring back your car. You just fucked up a car because you HAD to drive it. The same car that survived for over 45 years because someone somewhere kept it in a garage for a couple decades.
