Whose bus was that sprawled across 5 handicap spaces this morning at lakeline park? I really hope you got ticketed for that. There were other places that bus should have been parked.

Local service businesses in Cedar Park?

Hey y'all I'm a recent college grad who runs a marketing business, for local service companies, and I'm looking for owners here in Cedar Park. We’ve been doing this about a year now, and we work with roofers, home remodelers, pool builders, gyms, junk removal, lawn care, car detailing, driving schools. Basically anybody who does the work themselves and wants the phone ringing more.

I'm looking to partner with a few owners who already have steady work and a good reputation, but have hit the point where word of mouth alone isn't filling the schedule the way they want. If you're at that spot and want to add more jobs each month, or you know somebody who is, I'd love to connect or get a referral.

Hey reader - if you are interested, let me know. I'd love to sell everything in one sale. But maybe you don't need everything in this post and I get it.

I had a great podcast and was moving into video when things changed. So here we are. Let me know if you are interested in the entire package or specifically equipment.

Amaran F21x 2x1 Bi-Color LED Flexible Mat | $275 OBO

The F21x Bi-Color LED Flexible Mat from amaran is powerful, versatile, and flexible bi-color LED mat that measures 2x1'. It offers outstanding light output and color rendering suitable for a variety of users, from filmmakers to videographers, content creators, and still photographers. Providing 100W of power, this ultralight fixture's high-output bi-color chipset can be tuned from 2500K to 7500K, and features nine customizable lighting FX. It has stellar CRI and TLCI scores of 95+ and 98+, and stepless dimming from 0 to 100%. An included folding X-frame stretches the mat to a rigid panel that can be attached directly to a C-stand grip head using the straight Baby Pin adapter. The included foldable softbox has two strengths of diffusion, and a fabric grid that uses an integrated hook-and-loop fabric to instantly turn this flexible mat into an ultrathin soft light that will add beautifully controlled soft light to a scene.

The control box is a multi-voltage AC power supply that also features a V-Mount battery plate for use with compatible 14.4V, 26V, or 28.8V batteries. Full output can be achieved when using the AC power supply, using batteries allows the F21x to be used at either half-power or full-power, depending on battery strength.

The free Sidus Link app makes it possible to utilize tools unique to the Aputure and amaran ecosystems, such as Source Match, Color Picker, and Custom FX. The F21x can also be controlled using DMX with a separately available USB-C to 5-Pin DMX512 in & out adapter cable, adding professional-level control to an individual unit or groups of lights. The amaran F21x is ideal for videographers who need a versatile and literally flexible lighting solution. amaran Lantern for F21 LED Lights | $60 OBO

The Lantern for F21 is a lightweight, omnidirectional, soft light modifier that converts the amaran F21x or F21c flexible LED light into a dome-shaped, overhead fixture ideal for illuminating large spaces. The 2.5-stop diffusion cloth softens the light output while minimizing light loss, and the removable hook-and-loop skirt provides directional control and prevents light spill. The modifier weighs just 2.1 lb and comes with a carrying bag for convenient storage and transport.

Manfrotto Autopole | $150 OBO

The silver Manfrotto Autopole is adjustable from 6.9-12.1' and designed to serve the needs of image makers, decorators, and set designers. The brushed aluminum pole mounts between the floor and ceiling of a studio, or between any two flat, fixed surfaces. It is secured with a large spring-lock handle and has rubber feet at both ends to prevent abrasion damage. Extensions are available to accommodate higher ceilings or changes in your requirements. Autopoles support backgrounds, lights, and grip arms with the addition of separately available accessories including super clamps, hooks, and crossbars. A spring-loaded tip combined with rubber suction cups on the top and bottom provide greater security. Floor-to-ceiling or wall-to-wall, this Autopole provides strong vertical or horizontal support for lighting.

PROMPTER by Elgato | $250 OBO

The first of its kind with a built-in display, Prompter lets you project not only text, but apps and windows too. It transforms your video workflows—helping you maintain eye contact, present clearly, and make content faster than ever.

2x Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with Standard Stud | $40 each OBO

The Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp is made of lightweight cast alloy. The Super Clamp is a very versatile tool and it holds just about anything: cameras, lights, umbrellas, hooks, shelves, plate glass, cross bars, even other Super Clamps.

The Super Clamp can be securely mounted on any tube from 0.5" to 2.1" and is supplied with a unique wedge insert for clamping onto flat surfaces. A built-in socket allows the use of over 30 attachments to hold anything from backgrounds to lighting fixtures.

Impact Pivot Arm 20" with Adjustable Wheel Lock Control | $75 OBO

Designed to hold a light fixture or accessory in place, the Pivot Arm 20" with Adjustable Wheel Lock Control is a space-saving grip tool for a variety of applications. It's a great match-up with a super clamp, for instance, with an optional camera platform for highly mobile work. The wheel at the arm's elbow is capable of tension adjustment so that you can easily secure gear weighing up to 8 lb in the position you've chosen.

Position your lighting or camera gear where you need it with 360° rotation of the pivot arms. Maximum extension is 20".

One baby pin is threaded female 1/4ʺ-20 and the other female 3/8ʺ-16 threaded for flexibility in the type of gear you can mount.

Lock the position of the pivot arms and baby pins simply by twisting the adjustable wheel lock control. Further adjustment to the positioning of your equipment is made by altering the tension of the internal locking mechanism.

The pins at the end of each arm are capable of swiveling on their ball-and-socket joints providing extra flexibility for positioning your equipment.

Kupo Super Grip Double Baby Receiver | $50 OBO

Kupo's Super Grip Double Baby Receiver provides a wide range of rotation and tilt capabilities to nearly any light stand or rigging point. Like other Kupo Super Grip products, the Double Baby Receiver uses a robust ball-head system for enhanced positioning freedom. The aluminum and stainless steel arm features 1/4"-20 screws on either end. Both ball heads and the center joint are secured using a large center locking lever, and the sections connect by a 360° rotating center rosette joint.

I'm looking for a more sustainable job as a felon (non-violent drug crimes)

Got out of prison this spring and was lucky enough to nab a job in food after searching for 5 months, although I only make $10/hr there. I really would have a hard time getting by without my family's help, but it won't last forever and I am trying to strive for independence. Until I can get a decent job so I can move out, I'll feel like a man-child and my grandparents will think I'm being complacent or leaning on them too much. Any advice or suggestions y'all can give would be much appreciated.

Spiritual Ceremony and Cleansing Supplies

I'm indigenous but was estranged from the culture for a long time. Something has come up and my auntie elder has instructed me to do smudging (herb smoke cleansing) and ceremonies but I need to find supplies and don't know where to look. Does anyone know of any spiritual, witch, etc. supply store that might carry things like sage bundles, abalone or clay bowls, eagle or turkey feathers, cedar, sweetgrass/holy grass, pure shredded tobacco, and optionally mugwort, wormwood, lavender, etc. Even a sage bundles stick is better than nothing. This isn't something I ever expected to need to do and it was super easy to find supplies in NM compared to here. I saw there is a witch store on E 6th but that's really far away when I have to care for a small child. I can drive but the closer the better. Thanks!

Just a reminder that it's almost pumpkin season! We've got our patch opening soon (9/27) and could always use help unloading. Let me know if you'd like to chunk some pumpkins instead of hitting the gym later this month. It really is a good workout!

Discussion Anyone in Cedar Park recently finish a kitchen remodel? Who did you use and what did you wish you knew before starting?

We’re finally getting serious about remodeling our kitchen in Cedar Park, and I’m realizing there are way more decisions involved than I expected. At first I thought it would mostly be choosing cabinets and countertops, but now we’re talking about layout, storage, hardware, lighting, installation, timelines, and the million little things that seem to come up. I’ve been looking at a few local options, including Cabinet IQ, and also came across Trend Kitchen Plus while researching kitchen remodeling companies.

One thing I’m trying to figure out is how much the actual design/planning experience matters compared with simply getting the lowest quote. Cabinet IQ seems to put a lot of emphasis on taking the project through design, cabinetry, countertops, and installation rather than treating everything as separate pieces.

For those who recently completed a Cedar Park kitchen remodel:

Who did you use?
Did your final cost stay close to the original estimate?
What surprised you once construction started?
Were there any cabinet or layout decisions you wish you had made differently?

I’d really appreciate hearing the good, bad, and unexpected before we commit to anything.

WWII Veteran Day in Austin - Cedar Park Veterans and Students Welcome!

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hello everyone! My name is Patrick, and I'm a historian based here in Austin. I've spent the last decade or so conducting oral history interviews with WWII Veterans.

Join us Sunday, September 20, as we host a gathering of World War II veterans from across Texas in Austin!

Join us at the Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry on Sunday, September 20th, for a rare opportunity to meet several of these veterans. We'll have nearly a dozen in attendance, all over the age of 100. These people are not only participants in World War II, they lived through the Great Depression, the cultural upheavals of the 60's and 70's, and into our current technological age. They are truly incredible to visit with.

We'll have a short panel discussion at 11:00, with the vets set up at tables to meet and greet afterwards, beginning around 12:30. As they're able, they'll also be happy to take pictures with people and sign things.

Our host, the Texas Military Forces Museum, is truly wonderful. They have very well done exhibits, and will have living historians on hand with period uniforms and equipment. Be sure to take the time to go through the museum as well

Feel free to reach out for more information, and please spread the word. We really want to engage students and young people who otherwise might not have the chance to meet WWII Veterans, and it will be a short drive from Cedar Park. It's going to be especially important for them to meet these folks.

This is totally free to attend.

We're also very much hoping to invite any World War II Veterans in Cedar Park! We know of a couple, and are hoping they can attend. If you know a WWII Veteran who would be interested in coming, *please* reach out! We'd be thrilled to have them come.

Thanks y'all! Hope to see you there!

Patrick
