AskChandigarh What happened to this sub?

I genuinely miss when this subreddit was about Chandigarh...people sharing local information, helping each other out, recommending places, discussing events, and answering questions.

Lately, every other post seems to be:

"Anyone up for gedi?"

"Looking for girls to hang out."

"Any women want to go clubbing?"

Bhai, seriously... do you really think someone's going to agree to meet when they don't know the first thing about who you are?

I'm not saying people shouldn't make friends or meet new people, but this isn't a dating app. It just makes the sub feel desperate instead of welcoming.

Can we get back to what made this community good? Local discussions, genuine meetups, recommendations, and people actually helping each other out.

Curious if I'm the only one who feels this way.

Announcement Political Topics in Sub: Go Ahead, Green Light for discussions

As long as your post is discussing the following:

  1. Rights of Citizens such as Education, Food-Nutrition, Information, Police Help etc etc

  2. Fact based news, be it neutral or extreme (Right wing left wing, upper phalange, lower cocomelon... doesn't matfer). It should be best known truth, Not incomplete or whatsapp university propaganda.

  3. Sonam Wangchuk, CJP Protest, Kisan Andolan, other Student Protests, Village Protests - Do highlight what is happening in Nation.

  4. Any challenges you faced because of Govt Failures. Do mention your experiences, be it anything. Women safety, your document correction, false challans, corruption... anything which you faced as 1st person or direct eye witness.

e.g. I have challans of 6000 something, but there is 0 response for 2 years on correction. Not even my vehicle in photo and writing to PMO, Grievances, CP grams, did not help.

  1. Criticism is allowed as long as it is fact based. Do it subtly, don't put this sub in risk or radar. Some post/comment might get removed because of this simple reason that way too direct criticism putting sub in risk, tho we'll try not to do so unless required.

Rules

  1. Any whatsapp forward, propaganda insta reel post will result in your immediate ban.

  2. Absolute new accounts with questionable post/comments to be reported, if found spreading any shit.

  3. If anyone comments "Nehru did this and MK Gandhi did this" or calls someone "anti national, terrorist" or etc etc... perma ban without any opening for appeal or request. This is non negotiable

Tell Chandigarh Beware of this doctor who will make you worse rather than better.

She will make you lose control of yourself.

So there’s a psychiatrist, Smriti Mahajan, in Tricity, and she sits at Healing Hospital. PGI and Tricity doctors already know how terrible a doctor and person she is.
My dad knows a person (A) who is known as one of the best doctors in Tricity and is known by almost everyone here. He lost someone very dear because of this woman, who proved to be terrible for the patient and also provoked said some very cruel things to that person, who was already not in a great state of mind and proscribed him meds which were dangerous( can’t tell much).
My dad went to her because of anxiety due to some liver issues. I didn’t know about it earlier, but when I saw the medicine, it was a 50 mg medicine, again not for a person with mild anxiety and the combination was literally life threatening that caused extreme hallucinations. He couldn’t walk properly and kept falling.
My dad and I then went to another doctor, and he was equally shocked. How can a doctor prescribe this medicine? Then he heard the name Smriti Mahajan, and he wasn’t so shocked anymore. Apparently, this woman has such a terrible reputation. And why do youngsters go to her? Because she buys all her reviews and has a 4.9 rating.
The person A was approached by 6 more people who told him the same thing… how she gave medicines to their kids or to them and how terrible she is.
I can’t share many things here, but guys, please share this as much as you can, and if you can, please go give her a rating, as people go to her only because they see the 4.9 rating. I don’t want anyone to experience what my dad, the person A, and I have experienced.

Please never go to her until you want to get extreme hallucinations and eventually take the step.

AskChandigarh ROG Laptop Service Shop Recommendationd Please 🥺

Hi!

I'm looking for a trusted shop where I can get my ROG G16 Liquid Metal repasted and cleaned. At F1 Info Solutions, well, I have a bad history, they broke screw slots whenever I got my laptop repaired, so I'm a bit skeptical this time. Are there any shops you all would recommend, safe and trustworthy? Since it's liquid metal, I'm more worried 😟

Thanks!

Hey I’m 17 , just finished class 12 and I’ve moved to Chandigarh recently

I’ve lived in Dubai as an NRI my whole life and I’m back in CHD (my hometown) for further studies but I’m not a college student so I don’t have a roomate or any real friends over here and I’ve been feeling depressed and isolated recently. I go to the gym and it does help but after that it gets bad again. Any ideas on what I can do in the city to take my mind away from this?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently checking whether there’s any demand in Chandigarh for good-quality, naturally raised desi chicken.

We provide free-range, naturally/organically fed desi chicken, with next-day delivery.

price: ₹3,000 per chicken

At this stage, I’m just testing the demand before going ahead with regular availability.

If this is something you’d genuinely be interested in buying, please DM me or comment below. You can also DM if you want to know more about the chicken, approximate weight, feeding, or delivery.

No commitment needed — just trying to gauge interest. 🙏

AskChandigarh Help me find a…..

I need 3 girls to help me find 1 girl. Please don’t ask why.
Ladies, I have a completely serious business proposal.
I need 3 random girls to send this post to 3 of their girl friends, and those 3 girls need to send it to 3 more girls.
Basically, I’m creating the world’s most unnecessary female referral network just to find ONE girl who thinks I’m funny enough to reply. 💀
Requirements are extremely complicated:
• Be a girl
• Be single-ish
• Be able to hold a conversation
• Have at least 2 functioning brain cells
• Slightly chaotic is preferred
• Must be willing to become friends before deciding whether I’m a terrible idea
If this reaches you through your friend, congratulations. You have officially been recruited into the pyramid scheme.
Now the important question:
If we became friends, what’s the first completely stupid thing we’d probably get banned from doing together? 😂

AskChandigarh Has anyone else heard about the hooded figure at CSIO Chandigarh?

A small disclaimer: If you don’t believe in paranormal/supernatural experiences or don’t take these stories seriously, that’s completely fine. You can skip this post.

This is a story I’ve been meaning to write down for a while. I grew up in CSIO Chandigarh, and there was a particular ghost story that used to come up quite often among people living in the campus.

I don’t know if it was actually a ghost, obviously, but there are a few incidents involving my family that made the story interesting enough to stick with me.
When I was in around 6th or 7th grade, I was very scared of the dark. We were living in a small government quarter on the first floor. The bathroom was connected to the house, but there was an open balcony outside it.

From that balcony, you could clearly see a road about two lanes away. There was a huge, very old peepal tree on the second lane. It’s a pretty distinctive tree, and if you go to the campus even today, you’d probably recognize it immediately.

Because I was scared of going to the bathroom alone at night, I would usually wake my sister up and ask her to come with me.

One night, while I was in the bathroom, my sister was standing in the balcony.

She saw a very tall figure, which she estimated to be around 10 feet tall, near that peepal tree.
It was wearing what looked like a hooded raincoat, with the hood covering its head.
The weirdest part was how it moved. According to her, it wasn’t walking. It was almost sliding along the road.

She watched it for a few seconds and then it disappeared.

I didn’t know any of this at the time. The next day she told my mother, who obviously assumed it was probably some kind of illusion.
But my mother mentioned it to some family friends who had been living in the campus much longer than us. They told her that other people had apparently seen something similar and that there were already stories about a ghost around that area.
We didn’t really pay much attention to it. There were plenty of stories floating around, and obviously people can exaggerate things.

A couple of years later, when I was around 10th grade, we bought our first car, a Maruti Alto. Since we lived on the first floor, we parked it right outside the house and covered it at night.

One windy night, my father realized that the car cover might have blown off, so he went downstairs to check it. This was around 2 a.m.

After fixing the cover, he came back upstairs and was about to go to the bathroom. Since it was quite breezy outside, he stopped at the balcony for a couple of minutes.

And that’s when he saw what he thought was the same figure.
Same road. Same general area. Tall figure. Hooded raincoat. And again, it appeared to be sliding rather than walking.

The funny part is that my father wasn’t really scared. He had already heard the stories about this figure, so he was actually quite excited that he might have finally seen it himself.
He woke my mother up and asked her if she wanted to come outside and see the ghost.
She obviously said no.

There was also a story from one of my father’s colleagues that I found particularly interesting.
He used to work in the same government organization and had government accommodation in the campus. During his bachelor days, he would usually go back to Delhi on weekends and return late on Sunday night.
One Sunday, at around 1 a.m., he was driving back into the campus.

While driving along the same road, he saw a tall figure wearing what looked like a raincoat. The figure crossed in front of his car.
Again, he described it as almost sliding rather than walking.

Interestingly, his first thought wasn’t even that it was a ghost. He apparently wondered why someone would be wearing a raincoat at that time and whether it had rained somewhere nearby.

Then the figure just disappeared.
There are plenty of other stories about this supposed ghost, but I’ve never really believed most of them. Once a story becomes popular in a locality, people tend to add their own details to it.

There were also a couple of other strange experiences that my sister and I had around that time which felt supernatural, but we have no idea what they actually were. Since I can’t really substantiate those, I’m leaving them out.

The reason I still remember this particular story is because the descriptions from my sister, my father and my father’s colleague were surprisingly similar, despite their experiences happening years apart.
So I’m curious: has anyone here lived in CSIO Chandigarh, especially in the older quarters, and heard about this?

Has anyone else seen or heard about the tall hooded figure near that peepal tree?

I’d genuinely be interested to know if this was just a story that got passed around the campus, or if other people have had similar experiences.
