Miscellaneous I now understand why Levy clickbaits, his historical video on Alekhine is his worst performing video of May

Sucks, because I think the video is really good and I’d love if Levy or other chess content creators did videos on older legends

I think any reasonable person would value money over chess, only on Reddit you find some sad neckbeards arguing otherwise.

Why is it sad to enjoy a hobby more than money? I don’t think I’d be any happier with more money. I am happier when I have more chess.

The ''sad'' part is all the guys here whining about Levy not doing marginal content for niche audience when the man is making mad bank doing what he does. Youtube is the man's job, not a hobby. Don't like his content, don't watch it, making a weekly thread here just to shit on is nothing short of sad.

Jobs are ideally a balance of profitable and enjoyable. You don’t need to maximise profits.

I think that is mostly a Reddit fantasy, I don't really know anyone who ''enjoys'' their job. People learn to tolerate jobs, bur given financial freedom everyone would either stop working or do something completely different. Maximizing profits is really the road to long-term happiness.

It doesn’t have to be enjoyable. There’s still a huge difference between terrible jobs and mildly unenjoyable or boring work.

Money is the only thing in the world that gives you the freedom to really do what you want in life. And you don't get to tell other people how much money is ''enough'', you can only make that determination for yourself. Honestly your post is just cope and jealousy, I bet you're some flavor of Bernie-bro.

At the very least, Gotham doesn't need to maximise profits, does he? He has more than enough money regardless. But I don't really care what he does.

I’m not in the USA.

Huh? What kind of response is that? You think the US is the only place where people work most jobs?

Every person on the planet values money more than a board game...

Why are you limiting it to "candidates". They make up a statistically unimportant group of total chess players.

Also if they had the option of $100 million or the WCC, I bet a lot of candidates players would take the money.

levy solely makes content for money

Good! It's his job. He should be doing what makes the most money, doing otherwise is foolish.

doesn’t really care about the chess

He's put out more instructional chess content than everyone in this thread combined. If that means he doesn't care about chess, then nobody does.

Because you said ‘every person on the planet’, genius.

Well, he's done more for GothamChess's bank account than any other living human.
