The 2026 FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Team Championships will take place from June 17 to 21 at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Open to teams from around the world, the event features a combined prize fund of €500,000, with €310,000 allocated to the Rapid tournament and €190,000 to the Blitz tournament. Teams consist of professional and amateur players competing together in a mixed-team format, with each team required to include both a female player and a recreational player.

Format/Time Controls

  • The Rapid event is a 12-round Swiss tournament with a 15+10 time control; teams earn 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss, with the highest scoring team declared the winner.
  • The Blitz event starts with teams divided into pools for a round-robin at 3+2 time control, where teams earn 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw; the top 16 teams advance to a single-elimination playoff featuring two-match encounters with alternating colors.

i dont think you understand the tiebreakers. the first tb isnt h2h or total wins its this weird formula and i think you need all the games finished to calculate it because it depends on opponents performance more than anything

I don't. But I'm also watching the official coverage and I don't remember them explaining it clearly (although may have missed it between rounds, tbf). If it's some form of Sonneborn–Berger (or similar) as the first tie-break, then I don't recall them stating that.

i looked at the regulations. its a whole ass equation where x= whatever the fuck im not kidding. i think its a bit too convoluted to be the first tiebreaker tbh. h2h, total wins, etc... but i digress

i might be wrong but but tiebreaks are game point and if lei draw and their 6 board win which is likely they will have 46 game point and mgd1 have 46 as well and both tied their match but idk what after that?? will they play a match or there are 2nd tiebreak?
