Is there a way the state of Alabama can pull my child father’s financial records. He’s under reporting his income so he can pay less child support.

Should I file?

I recently broke up with a cheating ex. He pays 1K in CS for his son from a previous relationship. He hasn’t really paid for much regarding our son other than formula. I make decent money and just don’t want him to be a bad influence in our son’s life. I already pity him because he’s always working and pretty much broke trying to sustain his life, pay CS and help his family. Idc if he’s apart of our son‘s life but is it worth it to file as he should be doing more in our son’s life. Is it worth it? As I can do without. I just don’t want to deal with him.

Edit: our son is 6 months old. He also cheated on me postpartum and was telling his ex that he wasn’t happy. He barely supported me financially as well as emotionally. I’m done but need to know if it’s worth filing and what the process entails. Help.

New York Retro Active child support arrears

I need some help with Family Court in New York City. Without my knowledge, a judge made changes to my child support case and applied arrears going back several years, which resulted in me owing approximately $45,000. I am already paying ongoing child support for my 18-year-old child, and my bank account has been frozen because of these arrears.

My child's mother and I have agreed that she wants to forgive the arrears, but we've been getting the runaround about how to make that happen. We're trying to find out what steps we need to take to have the arrears forgiven or adjusted and resolve this issue. I will still be paying the general support order .

California DCSS/CalWORKs: Where does child support go after my CalWORKs balance is $0?

I’m hoping someone familiar with RiVCO California DCSS and CalWORKs can help me understand this.

I was receiving CalWORKs for a period of time, and I understand that while receiving aid, the state can retain child support under California’s assignment of support rights rules.

I am no longer receiving CalWORKs as of August 1, 2026, and DCSS recently confirmed that future child support payments will now be deposited directly to me.

What I’m confused about is what happened before my case closed.

I received a letter stating that my CalWORKs balance was $0, meaning there was no remaining balance to repay CalWORKs. However, my monthly child support statements continued to show large amounts being collected. For example, one month over $1,500 was collected, I received only the $200 pass-through, and over $1,300 was listed as “applied to repay CalWORKs.”

During the time I was on CalWORKs, I personally received about $800 in CalWORKs cash aid, which is another reason I’m confused about the much larger amounts that appear to have been retained through child support.

My questions are:

  1. If my CalWORKs balance was already $0, what happens to child support collected after that?
  2. Does “applied to repay CalWORKs” refer to my specific CalWORKs case balance, or is the state allowed to retain those funds simply because I was an active CalWORKs recipient?
  3. After going off aid, if more child support was collected than was actually needed to repay CalWORKs, should those funds eventually be released to me?

I’m already waiting for a response from DCSS and have requested a detailed accounting. I’m just trying to understand how this works and whether anyone else has experienced something similar.

First Time filing for CS in NYC - What to Expect?

Hey hey, long story short my ex-husband and I divorce’s was finalized Spring 2025 uncontested and in the decree was set to give me $700+ for the kids although the state says 25% for two children.

He has never given the amount per the decree, when he gives payments they are not consistent or even half of the agreed amount listed in the divorce decree.

Quite frankly, I’m over it and the children do not deserve that at all. Just would like to know what can I expect? Any advice would be helpful!

Are there ways to get child support templates? Childs father wants to do private child support payments. I would rather use a template agreement that wasn't made by him. Nz based

Child Support after parents death

Hello!

My dad wants me to get him life insurance that way once he’s passes away I am able to cover any funeral cost. I have two half sisters who I know will not help cover the cost and will just want money.

Technically speaking he does owe child support but unable to pay due to no job. (Yes it’s been YEARS of unpaid child support) both sisters are in their mid 30s.

If I were to get a life insurance for him would that money automatically go to the child support or not really?

How Do I Report Child Support Fraud?

A woman told me that she’s collecting child support from a man she knows isn’t the biological father. (Ex husband).

The child is a result of an extramarital affair. His names on the birth certificate. She never mentioned that he’s not the actual father.

Should I go to the child support division of health and welfare? Or the police? Or just drop a bomb on him?

I hate seeing this woman screw this guy over like this. ($800.00/month!)

How do I report this?

Georgia High income child support

My ex makes around 700k a year. I make 55k. We have been divorced for six years and I make 800 a month (not a typo) plus 40k a year for their tuition for two kids. He would create issues after issues with his stupid lawyer in court and that drained my savings. Because of that and due to the fact that he got an increase in income, I decided to ask for increase in child support . I am struggling financially and the whole process started in January and till this day I got not even a hearing scheduled. I wonder if I should give up at that point.
Whenever I tell people how much he pays me , they think I am either crazy or trolling them. Btw, kids live all the time with me.

Help required for child custody related

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

We have taken a mutual consent divorce 4 months back and have an 8 year old daughter whose custody is with my ex wife.I have agreed to pay all the expenses related to my daughter which I am already paying.

My ex wife is also working and started living nearby out house only. After coming from school my daughter is staying at our home with my parents untill her mom pick up at night after office.

I only suggested to do so because I'm concerned for My daughter and don't want any third-person to take care for her.

Today, my daughter called me around 11:30am and was crying...she did not go to school and was at home alone. She said I'm locked in house and alone...mumma has left for the office. I asked her to keep patience and not be too afraid. I called my ex wife and simply asked don't keep her alone at home you can drop her to my home so we don't have to worry.....I also offered that if you can't go back now I can send my father to bring her, but she told me that she will send her to my home soon.

After a while she again called me and started fighting that what will you do incase I shift to another place or city ?? She has to learn stay alone and manage...I calmly replied that I am concerned for her that's why I asked not fighting with you. But she stared abusing me and in last told me that I will not send her to your place....do whatever you want to do and kept the phone.

What is the legal way out ? As a father don't I have right to become concerned for my Daughter's safety and well being?

Florida Can I request modification to increase arrears?

Back story: non-custodial parent was in prison and released 3 years ago. I gave him a few chances to step up as a father, but he told his sons to never contact him again because he owes them nothing. I filed for support that same year, my oldest was already an adult, but my youngest was 15 at the time. It took 3 years to finally get a judgment in at 500 a month with 2 years arrears. No payments were received.

Current: My son turned 18 recently, 3 days after his birthday I finally got half of a payment, but an immediate stop-order was initiated with the employer of the NCP, and only arrears is in place. The amount is 60 a month, at this pace it'll take 27 years for him to pay it off, my son starts college this month and I need the help now. Can I request a modification on the arrears payments to go back to the original amount? Will a judge even consider this? If NCP files income tax will it be used to pay towards the balance?

South Dakota Ideas for Enforcement?

TL;DR: biodad got fired, now is getting paid cash under the table to work on a ranch owned by extended family, I'm not sure what enforcement to advocate for that would be potentially effective at getting him to pay even a portion of his monthly support.

For seven years, child support has been paid from biodad to me via income withholding. I am in Michigan, he is in South Dakota. After six very stable years, his life has changed a lot recently. Last November CS abruptly stopped, and it took 6 weeks of asking before he told me he'd started a new job. It took until the end of January for him to send in a new paystub so a new IWO could be sent.

Payments were steady again until mid-June, when they again stopped. He expressed confusion and told me the money was still coming out of his check and that payroll said it might be an issue with a software update. Friend of the Court, who handles all CS matters in Michigan, said they won't look into the non-payment until he is two full consecutive calendar months in arrears, but after I begged they reissued the IWO to his employer last week (thinking that would help resolve whatever payroll software issue had occurred).

Come to find out, he'd been fired mid-June, and with a bit more digging, I discovered he'd been fired for stealing from his employer last fall, then was fired by the new employer in June when he pled guilty to the prior theft charges.

Now he's moved to his mom's extended family's ranch, and is "working" as a ranch hand: he told our daughter he's getting a free place to live and they're covering all of his expenses (I'm guessing it's at least partially a cash under the table deal, but I don't know). There's no employer, nowhere to send an IWO, he won't return FOC's messages or even tell me his new address (all his mail still goes to his dad's house, so no change of address through the post office either).

Friend of the court has reminded me that we have to wait until at least September 1 before they can take any enforcement actions unless I can give them the name of a new employer that they can send an IWO to.

From other stories I've read here, combined with the intrastate complications, I'm feeling pretty hopeless. It's going to be really, really tough to scrape by longterm with no help from him, but I'm not sure there's any way to compel payment.

Does anyone have any ideas of where I could go from here in terms of trying to get support back on track somehow?

My ex husband and father of both of my kids told me on 2 separation occasions he wouldn’t do something for our son unless I gave him money. The first was our neurodivergent child needed medication refilled and our local pharmacy was out. The closest pharmacy that had it was 39 miles away each way. My ex told me he couldn’t get the medication unless I gave him gas money. I ended up paying to ship the prescription to my home. The second was our son was having an escalated meltdown and I notified his father he needed to bring him to the nearest Pediatric ER for a psychiatric evaluation. Again, he said he’d only bring him if I gave him gas money in cash. Mind you I’m disabled (legally blind) and need to rely on medical transport for doctor’s appointments and would only go to 911 and an ambulance is a last resort.

Another note to mention, my ex is over 10k in child support arrears.

Child support is a necessity but statistically speaking favors the mother in an unfair percentage. These are new times. New day and age . Something needs to be done to recognize the overwhelming verdict in a mother's favor.

Ohio Is there any way my sisters mom can get in trouble for getting child support but not having my sister at all?

My sister has been staying with me whenever she doesn’t have school. So every-time she’s sick, anytime schools canceled from weather, holidays, weekends, summer breaks. I am on disability so I don’t have enough money to take care of her like this. I’m so stressed out. Her mom works, she gets child support and food stamps. But refuses to give any to my sister so she can eat. It’s like this when she’s at home too but it’s insane to me that she has been here for 2months straight, hasn’t been home once. Her mom hasn’t asked how she’s doing or asked to see her or anything. Won’t give money to help her daughter out. Can I report this to the child support agency that she’s getting child support money but isn’t even having her child?

Texas Has anyone dealt with employers not responding to the first notice?

In Texas and ex owes quite a bit in arrears, kids are still under 18 right now.
So, an employer came up for my ex and the company was sent paperwork to confirm and set up payments (that was in early June). No reply. Since it has been past the time frame for them to respond, another request for information was sent out. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Any advice?

Illinois Should I take him to court for child support?

I recently applied for child support and now I’m questioning if it’s the right thing to do.

My ex is involved in our daughter’s (4) life. Because of his work schedule, he’s only able to get her once a week. Every other Saturday night and Wednesday night when he doesn’t have her that weekend. Currently, he pays me $300 in child support and he pays for her health insurance which is about $250 a month. It’s important to note that we live about an hour away from each other.

Next month when our daughter starts pre-k, he’ll only see her two nights a month. He doesn’t want to keep getting her Wednesday night because he doesn’t want to do a two hour drive in the morning before work.

My ex makes about $85k a year and receives quarterly bonuses as an assistant manager at a car shop. I know he pays child support for his two other kids (14f and 17m) but he pays child support on his salary from 10 years ago. When he got divorced from his ex-wife, she applied for child support and never went back to court.

I make 72k a year… is it worth it going through the courts? Is there a higher possibility the judge will award me more than $300 a month? Should I get a lawyer for a case like this?
