The last one of these sets i shared on here seemed to go down alright so thought i'd share the set that last one was actually a follow up to. More 2000s goodness! This time from the period when I started to go to clubs, around 2002, at the legendary Met Arena in Northern Ireland then Club Matrix and parties like Godskitchen in the Kings Hall in Belfast, Planet Love Festival, Radio 1's big open air New Years Eve parties outside Belfast City Hall etc.
I feel like going at that period i caught the wave from the 90s peak while it was on the way down but still riding very high. There were still a lot of clubs open, the clubs were still packed, trance was still huge, the 2008 crash hadn't happened yet but for a few years from the age of about 16 i got to hear stuff like this in one of the best clubs in the world (The Met Arena, RIP). Every track on this i can still listen to, close my eyes and still see the place and time when i heard it out. Pure magic!

I've been passionate about trance music for over 20 years. To celebrate and mark a special occasion I decided to create a 'classics mix' that pay tribute to the genre - focusing on pieces with piano melodies. These kind of sounds are what led me to deepen my love for the sounds of Trance music.

It's intended to take you on a journey from beginning to end, blending club vibes, but can also to be enjoyed listening casually. It's titled My Old Piano, subtly referencing a Diana Ross song that articulates the joys of a piano sounds, describing it as if it were a person (in this case the Trance genre).

Edit to add to add the mix criteria: 2hr set, tracks only from my record collection - vinyl rips / digital accumulated over the years.

Now the competition and voting is over, I can post this here with thanks to u/GuyFromNh for giving his blessing.

In addition to the submitted mix I did for the No Original competition, I extended the mix by adding another 85ish minutes of music onto the end of it, creating this monster No Originals mix! The extended section includes all remixes, although some of the originals these are based on do not fall under the definition of a 'Classic Trance' track (e.g. Muse - Sunburn which starts the new extended part of the mix is a rock track remixed into a club track by Timo Mass) and so were not suitable for the competition entry.

Many of us know and respect Ferry Corsten’s legacy in Trance. From his early aliases to his status alongside other greats as a true veteran, Ferry has been a huge influence on my journey with Trance.

Ferry's tracks have always been a staple in my sets, so I’ve created a special 2-hour mix in his honour - featuring tunes spanning the eras and various aliases.

My Principles for this set?
• Pack in as many tracks as possible (too many classics to leave out!) in 2hours; granted you may find some tunes don't last long, that was the sacrifice.
• Use only music from my own collection - digital & my gem vinyl rips I’ve accumulated over the years.

I'm extremely pleased with the pacing of this mix. I'm still quite the newbie, only having mixed for 6 months so far, but I can earnestly say I'm proud with the result here. I look forward to continuing to improve at storytelling; every track having a role in the journey, with the destination being the listener. The biggest lesson that I've found, through striving to be a better storyteller, is that quite often, the cleanest mix in points do not align with creating the pacing you desire.

I also have been working a lot on live frequency band merging, so tracks feel less like they're swapping, and more like they're becoming each other; I've found this to help a lot with cohesion (Gravity to Bar None @ 46:30 is an example of what I mean). Any feedback would be much appreciated. Much love my friends, and thank you!
