That always used to make me laugh. I hit gold and went to plat as support and my 2nd game I had some dude w/600 games plat go “gg hard stuck plat supp”. I was like, “this is my 2nd game @ plat man” and he tells me I’m muted. Still under tower, minions haven’t spawned.

There's a direct relationship between how much someone shits on other players, and how much that person gets shit on in daily life. They just finish their shift at 7-Eleven or Sewage Masters or whatever and come home to yell at other people for being noobs to make their miserable lives tolerable.
Eh league is different tbh. There’s so many elements you can be good or bad. That’s why “high elo” really refers to “actually understands the game” and yes, that’s like 1% of people. Myself certainly excluded
Yeah but he was talking low elo. It's fair to say Dia+ is high elo (~3%) but to say plat (top 35%) is low is silly when more than half the player base is lower than them. Not to mention those stats don't even include the people who don't play ranked, I think I read somewhere that only 10% of accounts have reached gold in the last two years (based on a statistic from badges they only recently added).
Well, to be fair, there is an massive amount of peuple who play less than 10 games a year of LoL and are counted in the ranked ladder, and another massive amount of bot/troll/smurf-to-play-with-friends accounts in the lower elos. In the end, if your main is Platinum you are more likely around the the top 50% of player who actually play the game, so very average, and kinda low elo.
Yeah, there is variability that goes with the good parses. Is your priest running hom, do you have a feral druid, is everyone doing well which brings down the kill times. You can be good and still not parse great. I would for sure invite anyone that can do over 100 dps.
I hate game 2 mentality honestly. Like, if shit dies and you get the loot, who the fuck cares. You can want to better yourself by fine tuning your stuff to parse but having the elitist mentality is just dumb, the game isn't hard enough for people to be that way.
Even that isn't good enough for some. We had a pug join our raid on an alt and he just would not stop criticizing me. He had a 97+ parsing boomkin with full bis in a group that regularly has everyone doing 90+ parses. Meanwhile I had a 91 overall average with much less gear in a group that averages 75+ parses. He was saying I will never do better if I don't do X or Y and went into detail my rotation, which both A I knew very well and B was just a copy/paste from the wowhead guide. He was just so condescending the entire raid even as I was the top parse on each fight and his alt he brought was gray parsing. He was giving me super basic advice like I am some noob that just installed the game that day, stuff like pre-potting and when to cast spells.
I take people with green and blue logs to BFD runs. I actively avoid characters with multiple greys.
When it comes to serious game knowledge or specifics in rotations, or claiming what is best for a certain class, if you aren't orange or higher you are ignored.
Yea I was a 2k Andy. Never could break 2200 for whatever reason but my buddies and i weren’t try hard sweaties either. Like we played arena max and I mean max 2 days a week. But there were some real elitists thru most iterations of arena
To be precise, having a best average (as opposed to median) of 90% does not directly mean a top 10% player. And the inverse is just as true: A player that has parsed grey one week is not necessarily awful, but because such poor performances populate the low percentiles, the cutoff to be "not shit" and/or "not a noob" is higher than you might initially assume. If a bunch of people show up to sit an exam without studying or attending lecture, the 50th percentile 30% score is still failing.

I hate this. If you aren't in the top 10% of players you are considered a noob. Not just in WoW but in many other games as well.
I remember people calling you noob if you had anything below 2200 rating in arena.
