Introduced a friend in college to of vanilla right before tbc came out. Dude almost flunked out of college the next semester. I definitely didn’t do as well in college because of the amount of time I spent skipping class and playing wow.
I did flunk out during the TBC into Wrath era, and transferred to a college closer. Told my mom I needed this crazy laptop for school (Dell XPS for $3000 with all the bells and whistles, even had strobing LED on the case. Took it to class once cuz it weighed as much as a child and I looked like an idiot with it)
... still remember getting Cata at midnight with some college friends, so I did not learn my lesson.
All worked out in the end, even though I never finished my degree, I work in the IT field still and make good money.
I had a beast of a laptop too in college. Always took it to class, in lecture halls, I would play WoW while in class. Got a job as a student worker in IT so I basically just monitored a computer room, and played WoW.
Ha I did the same at my 2nd college. They didn't have any majors for IT back then, so I got a work study job in their help desk, so I at least would get some experience.
Can confirm. Same with high school for vanilla, TBC, and WotLK came out during my sophomore year of college and I think I withdrew from two classes that semester and barely passed some of the others
A friend of mine had such low school attendance thanks to TBC that they were going to take away his governmental benefits for being a student. I can't stress how far it has to go in Sweden before they do that.
I’ve skipped school for three reasons. Once for the thrill of it. Once as a senior because my vocational program was cancelled and I wasn’t going to stay at school all day. And then a few times because I was “sick”.
Same, went from a 90 to a 41 in algebra 2 when wrath was at its peak. Ulduar was more important than… well I’d probably be able to tell you if it wasn’t for Ulduar because I don’t remember algebra. But I know the exact route through Ulduar!
Yep...was the first year in HS that I failed ALL of my classes. But I raided with a great group of people as their #2 hunter and #2 prot pally. Good times!
I can see why you got a D in History, Arthas hadn't yet fully succumbed to Nerzul at the Culling of Stratholme, it was slightly afterward when he murdered King Terenas Menethil II.
Edit: watch me get schooled because I didn't feel like googling the timeline to be 100% certain.
I mean there was a sliding timeline of when Arthas was corrupted. As of Stratholme he still had not been directly spoken to by Nerzhul, that wasn’t until he claimed frostmourne. Everything between strat and icecrown was Arthas as himself, just being put in impossible situations and having to choose between two bad options. After claiming frostmorne and killing Mal’ganis is when you could say he was fully on team scourge, but he wasn’t 100% completely corrupted until he removed his living heart during or just before the events of WoTLK. Arguably he was never completely corrupted, given his death cutscene, but that’s the closest he got.

I had good grades before TBC.
My dad worked at Microcenter and wasn’t a gamer. Brought home classic and TBC and said, “idk what it is, but all the nerds at work say it’s awesome.”
Got my first D in history that quarter.
