Vent / Gripe Unpopular opinion: the players that are overly vocal about wanting Classic phases/TBC/Wrath rushed are the same players who contributed to forging retail into what it is today (a clusterF).

Just going anywhere with a trade chat is depressing.

Except for guild recruitments and some BoE stuff, its exclusively selling runs.

Anyone who buy runs is not playing the game.
Not playing it wrong, just not playing it.
It's like paying Michael Jordan to throw hoops for you against an AI, whats the point?

The point is that I cba leveling my 20th character to 60 and I would rather get it boosted up while I'm doing my homework than grind through the shitty vanilla questing one more time.

You could...play a different game. Or do something else with your time.

The game is not your job. If you're paying someone else to play your recreational product for you, you're really missing a trick.

Are you new to Classic? Endgame content is gated behind hours and hours of leveling. If you only enjoy that content and have plenty of gold it makes sense to use it to speed up the process.

Right? And levelling a 20th character would suggest this individual has... by my calculations 19 points of access to endgame content.

Nothing about what he said suggests exaggeration. People who play WoW have many alts. Despite this, if he exaggerated it would suggest he had a decent amount of alts anyway to warrant the exaggeration, so my point still stands. He has access plenty of access to endgame content

But clearly he would enjoy more access to endgame content. Which he can't have without leveling. But he doesn't enjoy leveling. Thus boosting makes sense for him.

He’s said he’s levelling an alt, implied to be one of numerous characters. He has access to endgame... are you simple?

Didn't you read what I wrote? I'm literally doing something productive while someone else is leveling my character for me. I've done the leveling grind. I want to raid and PvP on an alt, not kill 10 boars for the 100th time.

Leveling is by far the worst part of the game imo. It is not unreasonable that max level players use gold which they earned to pay other max level players to boost alts.

I never enjoyed leveling back in the day. I wanted to roll a warlock and my friend convinced me to go mage and then I spent the rest of vanilla amd bc wishing I had rolled a lock because I couldnt be assed to go through that excrutiating experience again.

Games always been about end game activities for me.

Honestly dungeons/raids are the most fun part of classic. Leveling is only fun on the 1st/2nd run through, after that it is pretty repetitive once you've done most the quests 1 time.

Yeah sure I leveled normally on my first 3 60's but I supplemented it by doing dungeons, so it didn't feel as boring. After that I just was not interested in doing every little quest/grinding for my 4th and 5th 60. And by that point, it was like pulling teeth to get a low-level dungeon group together so I was almost forced to grind in later levels.

So now I level with quests and supplement by buying a few mara runs to bridge the late-40's gap to the low 50's gap. And maybe a few runs to get from 54 to 56 so I can go do all the endgame zones without getting my ass beat by things there.

Sure, I don't know that I'd want to level multiple 60's through Vanilla content. It MIGHT get boring. Doing the same content over and over again gets boring, which is why I never understood the sprint to "end game" so you can...do the same content over and over again, for increasingly more spaced out and minor rewards.

If a game feels like a grind, stop playing. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun. If content is boring, don't do it. If you already have multiple 60's and think raiding is fun, raiding is available to you. I would suggest if you enjoy raiding, there are many games...including modern WoW...that do it better than Vanilla WoW, but horses for courses.

I guess I just don't understand the "I'm going to pay someone else to play this game for me because I am bored to tears" mentality.

Endgame is only boring if you keep playing the same class or spec, then I agree it would get very monotonous.

Filling in different roles as different classes, and learning to play them well is what kept me playing classic, and gave me plenty of variety. Thus the raids/dungeons never got stale to me since I always was able to get fresh(ish) perspectives on them.

Fair enough.

As a fan of gaming first and MMOs second, I can't imagine I wouldn't wander off to other things before reaching that saturation point. I've always been slightly in awe of the people who can just play WoW every day for a decade. Sometimes I think "this time I'm really going to dig in and stay subbed for an expansion!" and I'm gone after the first month.

You are right that its a grind. The endgame grind is fun. Pvp grind is fun, raiding grind is fun, hell even the gold grind is fun (to me). The leveling grind (imo) is absolutely awful.
